Just a thought but on the 2011 hesitation problem I noticed recently reading a couple of threads that when you have a proper LR towbar fitted that it makes a change to the ECU mapping to change the torque characteristics in certain circumstances. In my case the car (manual) had a towbar fitted when I bought it and I asked for it to be removed by the LR dealer. It's a long shot but I wonder if there is some connection here in that when the towbar was removed that the system wasn't reset until the dealer later tried to fix the hesitation problem. ie Have all cars with this problem had a LR towbar fitted at some point? Does anyone have anything to add on this ? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

That is a very interesting concept. I know nothing about the tow bar side of things but have suffered the stutter on my MY11 and do not know if it had a tow bar in a previous life. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Surely the remap only changes characteristics when the system detects that there is a trailer connected? Things like disabling the reversing sensors.
I haven't noticing any change in gear changing when a trailer is attached - but I've never towed a significant weight with my FL so perhaps that kind of change wouldn't be obvious.

I think that the reversing sensors are switched off separately, one of our FL2s had evidence of a towbar having being fitted at one time but the sensors had been disabled and it was a dealer job to get them going again. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

AFAIK, The sensors are disabled only when a trailer is detected once the trailer module has been 'programmed' in'

I have just removed my towbar electrics and consequently the sensors are inoperative - the car needs plugging in to have the ccf reconfigured back to its pre trailer module state.

Bit of a pain really as one (wrongly) gets to rely on the sensors...

Sensors only disabled when something is plugged into the towbar electrics, surely? That's the way mine works (with bike rack). The 'trailer' symbol only appears on the dash when the electrics are in use.

EDIT: meant to add, I have the hesitation, when towbar electrics are not in use, not sure I've confirmed that it happens when they are in use, ie the negative of the hypothesis.

Slightly off topic, hope you don't mind, but I'm about to have a non-standard tow bar fitted to my 2009. Do I need to get it programmed then?

Had a 2007 that was programmed when the tow bar was fitted but my 2013 is plug play. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green
