Auto climate system help

Hi folks, can someone please explain to this thicko what the air con and climate control unit is doing when the auto button is pressed?? All I seem to hear is the fans on full blast? What's going on? And why if I adjust the speed is there only one light illuminated? Cheers!!

you have a dial for temp, you set this to what you want, press auto and it will maintain that temp, by increasing/decrease temp blowing out the vents and also speed to maintain the temp

turning the fan speed dial, places it in manual, ie you set temp, but you are controlling the speed and obviously the car can not main temps if fans are too slow Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

On my one in the cold, if the temp is set high from start off, from memory the fan blasts out on full speed to start with but as the engine (and the heater water) warms up the cabin, the speed of the fan reduces as it gets near the set temperature. I think auto also decides whether fresh or recycled air is pushed around the cabin. As Nick says, touch the fan switch and its back on manual.
