Chronograph is a posh word for having a second hand, or another hand that can be started and stopped for timing, there is absolutely no guarantee that it will keep any better time than a £30 fake from China. Should you want an accurate time piece then you buy a chronometer. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I have a Tag and the battery packed up after just over a year so I took it back to the place a bought it so they could fit another, cant do that here they said it has to go back to Tag, oh ok no watch for 3 weeks, great, came back £50 please! Why does the battery cost the much I asked, oh they also serviced it as well they said, huh I bet. Next time I needed a new battery I went to the local Timex shop and got it done for £5 and they gave that a polish with the duster too. They do say though if you dont have the seal renewed, which is apparently what they do when it goes back to the manufacturer, they cant guarantee it will be waterproof still at 300ft, but the nearest mine gets to water is the washing up bowl, so I risked it. |

The chances of a watch leaking are in the first 10m, after that the laws of pressure overcome seals and thus make their own watertight integrity, at 100m the worry is that the case will collapse or the glass, plastic crystal viewing face will let go, or it will stop as the mechanism is crushed. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I was wondering actually under what circumstances would you have your watch under 400m of water pressure and still be wearing it and still be ok yourself too?

Yes 400m of water that equals about 450psi, or 31bar, that will take your breath away my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The waterproofing ratings on watches are static tests. For normal swimming you should get one rated to at least 50M, if you want to dive in then 100M.

That seems to be a load of waffle, he doesn't seem to understand pressure and how it works, movement is immaterial. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I dont own a watch anymore. Stopped wearing one at work more than 10 years ago as I have to wash many times during the day (infection control) and just got use to not having one.

Not entirely but it doesn't make a huge difference. |
