Chronograph is a posh word for having a second hand, or another hand that can be started and stopped for timing, there is absolutely no guarantee that it will keep any better time than a £30 fake from China. Her is rated to 400m so they said that it would need to be sent off to be swapped and pressure tested, as they can only go to 100m in store.

I pointed out that if the watch got too 20m the chance are a leaking watch will be the last thing on the wife's mind

The chances of a watch leaking are in the first 10m, after that the laws of pressure overcome seals and thus make their own watertight integrity, at 100m the worry is that the case will collapse or the glass,plastic crystal viewing face will let go, or it will stop as the mechanism is crushed. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I was wondering actually under what circumstances would you have your watch under 400m of water pressure and still be wearing it and still be ok yourself too?
You wouldnt take an everyday watch diving other than say in a swimming pool really would you?

The waterproofing ratings on watches are static tests. For normal swimming you should get one rated to at least 50M, if you want to dive in then 100M.

I dont own a watch anymore. Stopped wearing one at work more than 10 years ago as I have to wash many times during the day (infection control) and just got use to not having one.
My mobile tells me the time and much more. Jules
