Morning folks. Wanted to come back on this one. Would seem my new socket is suffering the same problem. Have tried 2 different cables (would be unlucky if both were faulty) and when fully inserted I lose one side of stereo and most of the bass. Lifting the cable out a little or putting a bit of side pressure on helps but no use for actual driving.

Can't see why a new socket would suffer this too. Wiggling the actual cable connection from underneath makes no difference.

Any ideas? Still under warranty for another month but it is a massive hassle to get the car booked in, get a courtesy car (look after my kids full time) etc for something so small, but I do use it daily so it is important.

Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

You're not getting any luck with this at all.

Nope. Really quite annoying. Socket fitted correctly as sits nice and flush so it isn't that. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I had this same problem with my first FL2 GS (basic head unit), and got LR to replace under extended warranty. Both suffered the same issue in that the 3.5mm jack on the cables doesnt fit snugly into the ''3.5mm'' jack in the centre console. its more like a 3.6mm.

The extra mm allows the cable to move when plugged in, which creates intermittant contacts and hence intermittant sound quality.

I never cured it so when I bought a second GS spec with the basic head unit, I fitted a parrot bluetooth system that could stream music. Expensive fix but well worth it.

See if LR will fit or contribute to a bluetooth streaming add on ??

I don't know what to do to be honest. We are in the process of moving and will be selling one of the cars. As I will still be driving and my wife won't, we were going to sell her car, which is the same age and hasn't had a single fault. Hard to jstify keeping something that just keeps breaking and selling something that doesn't. Especially as my warranty expires next monty and cant justify the £50+ a month for keeping the warranty going.

Doesn't the Bluetooth kit need the aux in or is it hardwired in? Don't think it'd be an option anyway. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

hard wired in, and needs an adaptor cable costing between £10 and £60 depending on what head unit you have (although the more expensive cables are for amped and multi speaker systems like the higher end Alpine ones)

I paid £170 all in fitted by Hellfrauds but it is an easy fit if your happy taking the centre dash apart which isnt that difficult having seen it done which will save around £50 fitting cost.

Despite the cost, that is an interesting option. Does it connect to the steering wheel controls too or is it standalone control wise? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

y parrot system you get a wireless controller, ive stuck mine on the inside edge of the steering wheel next to the stereo controls so i dont have to take my hands off the wheel. Theres also a wired screen display, with an SD card slot and then fed into the glove box are a usb port and a 3.5mm jack lead. So you have the choice of SD, usb, 3.5mm or streaming music.

this s the one i have but there are other very similar systems

theres a pic in my gallery of the screen mounted on my dash.

Should update this. The new socket that wasn't working: Wasn't seated properly and also turns out my trust phone which I use for audio has a faulty headphone socket... I am ashamed.

In my defence the socket was at fault wile not properly seated but once seated correctly I was only testing with my phone hence the assumption that it was the socket.

Daft barsteward. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
