Well it is certainly true that it is all about worldwide sales nowadays. I was researching a BMW Z4 recently and found out that the reason you can get £8,500 off list price in the UK without even asking is because Chinese buyers don't want Roadsters because the air quality / pollution in China is so bad and that open top cars in China are too vulnerable to crime ! With no Freelander 3 on the horizon, I really do hope that the Defender will continue in the future but I realise that the fact that it has many enthusiasts in the UK is irrelevant and unless it can appeal to emerging economy drivers it will never happen ! I'm sure I read that there is a slightly bigger / longer evoke type car on the way which would sit between the DS and Ewok.... I may have imagined it but if not surly thats closer to the FL2 spec ? Whilst I appreciate the need for all significant car manufacturers to look for global market share, it still strikes me as very odd to build cars in the UK and yet appear to largely abandon a large part of the home market (Freelander2 & Defender).

The Discovery brand name has always been synonymous with the family markets a market which now sits In the Freelanders (outgoing) size so it makes sense to Market this as "Discovery" as the D4 market is shrinking, not where Family/volume sales will be!
