Concrete Block Removal

I've been digging out a concrete block, which looks to be foundations for a single fence post or whatever

It's size is turning out to be 2'06" x 1'06" and over 1'06" deep Evil or Very Mad

It obviously too big to lift even if I kept on digging Crying or Very sad

I think they just dug a hole with the rear bucket of a JCB and popped, said fence post in and filled with concrete

I have hit it (before knowing its size) with a huge sledgehammer and that hardly made a dent in it

Will a jackhammer work or is my plan for removal and laying a lawn doomed Question

Similar scenario when I replaced my fence posts when we moved in to our current house, they defo use a JCB to dig holes - I watched them doing it on a near by development.

Anyway, a "concrete breaker" is what you need from the likes of HSS. It will be a 110V and you will get a transformer with the hire. Half a day hire will be ample for that job but make sure the "bit" you get has been sharpened recently.

A ryobi battery strimmer would make short work of that Whistle (battery not included)

dig a hole 3 ft deep, then undermine the block and tip it in, job done and no rubble to cart to the tip.

we did similar with some huge concrete fuel? tanks in a field that had a past life as an RAF/RFC base between the wars, A full sized jcb help there though. At work

Digging hole next to it might be a idea if the jackhammer doesn't work Thumbs Up

Worst case it will not touch it, but if I can lower it a few inches below the current levels then I could in theory place top soil over the top of it and leave half burried Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Is Barry the Bang related to the world famous "Blaster Bates" of Oulton Park fame? Whistle
