Home > General > Unexplained extra LED side light within rear LED cluster! |

Does anybody else have 'extra illumination' on the left nearside tail light of their Freelander. I have noticed an extra red side light when the lights are switched on that doesn't appear on the drivers side light cluster. It is located where the cluster goes round to the side of the car and at the base where there are 3 black circles/dots within the red reflector.

Both sides of mine light up - seems your dealer should be looking for a n/s cluster with rather than an o/s unit without the 'side' light. |

You have fitted NAS spec lights as Dave has correctly stated. If you look at the video below you will notice that the front headlights have an amber reflector which is illuminated and acts as front maker lights as the rears do! In the UK we have either a clear reflector or later cars MY15 have a blacked out headlight reflector with no bulb. The rear lamps are identical minus the bulb. This is indeed interesting! At the end of the day I guess that the dealer will fit what they see as appropriate. I have only just purchased the car and it was supplied under the approved LR scheme and has a full Land Rover warranty. I probably won't be given a choice! |

The easy thing to do would be to get your dealer (or another one with late cars on their forecourt) to show you the (lit) lights on their cars.

Is that (NAS spec) going to be a problem at MoT time? If so I will disable the side markers.

I guess that as long as they are a matching pair of rear lights present then they will pass an MOT. My thoughts currently are that mine would fail the MOT test. If I was followed by the police at night anytime I could get stopped for having what appears to be a defective tail/side light on one side, rather than having too many on the other!

I can't see that being an MOT issue. If so, every run-out Jaguar X-Type(2009) would be failing its MOT owing to Orange Markers built in to the bumpers. Foraging near Gaydon....

My mums RRS has the front marker lights. As Badger has stated I don't also think this will be an MOT issue
