Exchange rate today was R17.33 to one Pound.
No idea about taxes just thought it will be interesting to compare with European prices.

If I took sterling out of my ABSA in CPT, I could get close to 20ZAR/GBP just on the Waterfront from burghers trying to get their money out of the Republic of Philamon's Laughing Foraging near Gaydon....

Another update: The gripes

It's not a large list and probably trivial but it's worth a mention.

1) Front seat belts don't adjust, don't see the reason why LR never designed them to adjust.
2) Reverse lights are pants, I notice there is something on topix regarding them so will mention it to my dealer.
3) Rear seats squeak, which it's going in for on Wednesday

Other than the above the DS is good. I will try and get a couple of photos of the DS and Fl2 together at some point, probably next weekend. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Thanks for taking the time to provide updates Thumbs Up I am hoping to get a secondhand something next year and hoping there will be a few Discovery sports on the market then or Land Rover start producing cheaper models. Have you taken yours offroad yet? My only worry with the DS is ground clearance along rutted tracks.

I've had it across a wet grassey field, performed as you would expect from a Land Rover. Ground clearance is 212mm at the front and rear 235mm, I would need to double check though. The Fl2 had less at the front but more at the rear. There is a couple quite spots I can go along to try it out, something for next weekend Very Happy 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I'm running around with this at the moment, the DS is in for its first and hopefully last warranty work. It's unwritten law that in LR ownership the car must go back to the dealers in the first month.

That particular one is very comfy, I think it has the Lux seats. My one was just a bog standard pure not much on it so didn't really feel like a Range Rover. I'm getting attached to my loaner, but I think the DS is better built, my temporary Evoque (15 reg) has a few creaks from the dash trim, and seems to be a bit of a miss mash of trim, piano black around the electric window controls but silver dash inserts and centre consol trim with a dotted pattern, though it feels more spacious behind the wheel than the DS. I forgot how much fun the Evoque is on country roads, my one didn't have dynamic setting on the TR, so I gave this one a good thrashing along some back roads, which brought a smile to my face. The SD4 Evoque, perhaps because it's smaller, feels like it has a lot more pace than my DS.

Would I go back to one? maybe, but it would have to be dynamic and petrol. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

LRNUT,
Your view of DS confirms I HAD BEEN to specsavers when I mistook a DS for an Evoque in car park a couple of weeks ago.
It was parked a few rows away and I only had a straight view of the rear. All FL2's (3) Gone

Well decision made for me. Old one polished up and provisionally sold. Replacement low mileage XS purchased.
So staying with a Freelander.
Old one never looked so clean, makes me wonder why change....

Will later post my experience of taking this car to 101k for our interested potential Freelander owners
