Previously I have not bought the better fuels on offer, but the past few fill ups I have avoided supermarkets and gone for the best desiel available from the likes of BP, etc. and have seen a calculated mpg improvement of 1.5mpg. I will be continuing the current regime for a couple of weeks then trying TSO to see if that has any effect. Tick over appears smoother as well. |

@ al.papado I do a lot of driving in town/heavy traffic and currently averaging 23 mpg @ 19-20 mph with an SD4. If you are only averaging 12 mph and the manufacturers Urban figure is 18 mpg, 12.8 mpg sounds about right for this time of year.

I don't think the 3.2 i6 is underperforming at those speeds - that seems about right comparing with other petrol engines of equivalent displacement in my experience. |

I live in a country town in Australia and the 2011 SD4 diesel is giving a consistent 7.2 litres / 100 km (39 UK MPG) on long country runs. I stick pretty much to the 100 kph speed limit (60 MPH) and the roads are generally quite flat. I'm happy with that fuel economy especially as the SD4 is supposed to give a slightly worse fuel consumption than the TD.
