The electrics are plug and play but you will have to use a diagnostic machine to tell the car that you have a tow bar fitted. Telling the car will result in activation of the trailer stability program when the trailer or caravan is attached which disables the rear parking sensors as well. |

Sorry programming depends on when the vechicle was manufactured from october 2012 on the oem part number 19190514RC then its automatic no programming required unless you want to disable the PDC sensors then you need a diagnostic machine.

I have fitted the PF Jones kit to a MY13 car and in my experience there is no need to have it programmed.

On 2013MY, as said, no programming required, and it also switches off the PDC when a trailer is plugged in. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |

Thanks for the replies, still appears to be a 50 50 call as to whether programming is required but it seems much less complicated that the pre 2012 models. I guess that's part of the joy of Land Rover ownership. |

Sorry to open up an old thread but is there a way to create a dummy plug for the OEM Trailer electrics that disable the PDC when a bicycle rack is installed on the rear at the tow hitch? Our US Spec cars do not have a PDC disable switch on the dash. |

As I understand it, if you fit the genuine electrics they should disable the Rear PDC when you plug in the the Trailer Light Board p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

Thanks for your reply. What I discovered after more digging and a moment of clarity on my part is to try a hitch electrics tester that plugs into the 4 prong plug for the trailer lamps. It has enough resistance to fake the system out and silence the PDC. They should have included the switch on the dash but this will work. Problem solved. 2014 LR2 HSE LUX in Fuji White |

Not sure in the difference in the spec, for the HSE Lux compared to the one over here, there would be a switch on the dash that will temporarily turn off the Rear Sensors, but it is only fitted should you have both Front and Rear PDC. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

Interesting result. Mounted the bike rack (Kuat NV) which sits, when folded up very close to the rear of the LR (actually a very nice fit). Absolutely no audio from the PDC whatsoever when you go into reverse. There is a place to turn on and off embedded in the touch screen controls when the rear camera is activated. Has no effect either way. The audio is dead... wonder if they (the LR dealer) wired up the towing package electronics correctly?? 2014 LR2 HSE LUX in Fuji White |

It's plug and play tow bar wiring so even the dealer ought to be able to plug it in correctly! |
