Diagnostic Tool

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a diagnostic tool to buy for FL2. Something I want more out of interest really. Always handy to have.

Something that can read any faults and clear/reset them too. There are lots on eBay. But at 20 pounds or so guessing they are not that good?

Will spend a fair bit but not the earth Smile

Thanks for your help
Mac

hawkeye or lynx seem to give the best for LR but FL2 not always as supported as some other models.

I've got the hawkeye which is ok,I also have a nanocom for my old D2 but when I bought the hawkeye at that time the nanocom didn't support the fl2,now they do so if I had to choose again it would be the nanocom every time.

Unless your going for an Autologic, lots of money, this is the next best tool.

Thanks All,

I took a look at the iCarsoft i930 which is designed for Land Rover Jaguar. Its GBP 90 so i think its worth a look at for that price.

I will report back here and let you know.

I've had a Scangauge II for years and love it, but it doesn't work with the software in my 2001 TD5 Defender

I've not tried it in the Freelander yet so I've no idea if it works. I'll give it a try and report back

I have an Autel Maxidas DS708 and am very happy with it. I have used it with success on everything from my FL2 to a 1993 BMW M3 and a 2001 Sprinter Van! It is OBD2 and OBD1 compliant and came with all the necessary adapters. One of the features of the DS708 is you can regenerate DPFs (my wife has a Peugeot!). It has also allowed me to bleed the ABS pump on a VW new Beetle. Like the man says - you get what you pay for! John

Re: Diagnostic Tool

Mac,
I have a d900, cheap plug & play code reader. Also provides some live reads too. Bought it a couple of years ago, used it on the FL2, worked OK for reading & deleting codes. Also used it on Vauxhalls & some other makes. Cost me around £25. Landy has now gone.

I've had one of these for about a week. It's a useful unit but does not display the full DTC including subcodes eg P0045?? so you might be left with no option but to pay someone for a more detailed result.

The most worrying aspect of some recurring DTCs is that nothing ever appears on the dash. And don't be fooled by cheaper units - you may get nothing at all flagged up, even after a Reduced Engine Performance message and limp mode.

Personally I prefer the FBH, usually sorts out most problems. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

I'vejust invested in the new iCarsoft LRII scan tool. Having recently acquired a MY11 Td4 I had the 'Oil Service Required' notice. This cleared and reset the warning. It seems a good bit of kit and also has a general OBD2 module included which will search the protocol on other vehicles. Seemed to work on the wife's Qashqai!!!

Ok Thumbs Up
It works!

DAEATECH Dpf Doctor ....from China with fury
It can reset the "DPF FULL VISIT DEALER" and the "Restricted Engine Performance"
Can do a Forced Regeneration and you have live data with the progressive weight reduction of soot of carbon oxidizes on dpf.

Initially I was very doubtful Rolling Eyes , so I asked in this forum but no one answered Big Cry
so after a long meditation and desperate google search ...I tried anyway ...
...and after a car stop for about one month caused by dpf problem... last Sunday morning... the resurrection!
...now is ok Cool
