Exactly for this purpose of possibly installing additional lamps on these.

you should be fine to use the main beam feed to act as the control for a separate relay, which in turn feeds power to the spotlights. the relay will add little load (compared to another bulb) on the circuit.

Will soon find out when I connect mine up, as my plan is to wire into the full beam [with relay].

Oh and in answer to the OP, I mounted mine at grill level

these are G rated for Fuel, E for Wet grip, and 76DB.

Sorry, they really look the part, and no doubt they are great off road, but not for me.
I can live with the fuel rating, but not the Wet performance or even the noise.
I believe at 76Db they will fail the coming EU noise limitations for tyres..

Are they noisey and don't grip in the wet?
Been running these for years on the D3, D4 and now the FL2 and must say I never noticed.
Heck, never knew I've been running on duff tyres all that time.
Need to keep an ear (and an eye) out for it.

To revive an old thread then.....
Just recently changed to a freelander from a discovery 2 on which I have Hella 3003 9" lamps fitted. Used to brilliant front lights and a little underwhelmed with the halogen headlights of the F2. Now much as I like a big spotlight I really don't like the look of them fitted to the bumper on an F2. My idea would be to fit a light bar or pair of smaller led spots behind the mesh grille below the front bumper. Has any one on here done that or have any advice about the feasibility of such a plan? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
