Whilst in the dealer test driving disco sport was told the new engine it will be getting is a 2.0 ltr with power down in the 110 range and 2wd to keep the fleet user happy for tax. Sad can't see many being chuffed with that

The problem is, that dealers are just guessing. The new 2.0 diesel engine can be used in applications from as little as 120bhp up to 250bhp when applied with the twin turbo technology, which apparently is coming.

I am not convinced LR know yet what power out puts to eventually offer. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

A bit off topic perhaps but my wife is currently looking at buying a Ford Fiesta with the eco boost engine. Do you have any info or views on its reliability etc?

My daughter has a 1.0L ecoboost Fiesta. It goes well, is generally quiet, sounds nice when revved, drives like a much bigger engined car with low end torque. Very good economy and excellent Fiesta handling. As a first car its stunning. Jules

The thing I like about the new Ford and Vauxhall 3 cylinder engines, is that they kind of sound like a V6! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

LR know the power outputs for 2016MY Evoque and I'd expect a DS with Ingenium engine will be broadly the same.

From Evoque press release:
The all-aluminium Ingenium TD4 engine, 20-30kg lighter than its predecessor with stiff cylinder blocks and decoupled injectors ensuring low levels of vibration and noise intrusion, is available in two power outputs: 150PS (eD4 2WD) offering fuel economy of up to 68mpg (4.2 l/100km) and class-leading CO2 emissions of 109g/km, while the potent 180PS unit offers 59mpg (4.8 l/100km) and CO2 emissions from 125g/km. The 150PS unit is 18% more fuel efficiency versus the Evoque's previous diesel engines. Now:

Couldn't agree more. It really does have a good sound when driven hard. It's the nearest to a diesel to drive too, if you want to save on fuel you never need to go over 2000 revs.

Mav, you are absolutely right about that VX engine - it is as sweet as a proverbial nut! Will seriously consider going back to petrol if JLR can offer something along these lines cometh the Ingenium range! Thumbs Up Foraging near Gaydon....

No, the miserable witch insisted she drove it home. However, I took it to Tesco on the pretext that I needed to make sure the tyre pressures were as per the PDI. I'm glad that she doesn't read this forum, as if she knew that I had it up to 90 on the Southam bypass with 11 miles on the clock, she might have blown her own gasket!! Rolling with laughter

All in the interests of durability testing and safety, you understand......

Ps: cracking little engine! Foraging near Gaydon....
