All Disco sport related info is further down the page a bit, titled 'Discovery Sport Range'

There is a dedicated site also. Which I don't want to advertise. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Sumatra Black

Well I have been to Williams in Manchester today, in response to their invitation to test the Discovery Sport.
..and come away rather confused and a bit disappointed.
They seem to have turned the rufty tufty LR2 into a very expensive Qashqai, for me it is now a 'family car' and there are a whole sea of them out there for a lot less money.
I need a replacement for my 09 Freelander, work-horse (self employed ) but I don't think this is for me.
Getting directly out of mine and into the DS was immediately aware of what felt like less volume in the cab. It drove very similar to the Freelander, didn't really notice the extra gears in the box (I only do autos).
The 2 extra rear seats my 10 year old grandson would find 'cosy' and getting in and out of them is only for the very nimble.
The tray height in the rear storage seems lower than the FL involving more bending and unlike the FL, at 6ft tall, I have to duck to move around under the open tailgate, and of course, no spare wheel.
The showroom HSE Lux has a sign next to it with an eye watering.. over £48,000 on it. Mad as a box of frogs.
I have to work way too hard for my money to part with it that easy, but I suspect there will be plenty of candidates who don't in the queue. The LR RR badge now seems an irresistible icon in middle class one-upmanship

Are you saying that those of us who have ordered one don't work hard for our money ? 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

anyone paying that needs their head looking at.

Rolling with laughter come on, you must know that Pete was generalising the intended market, and not that everyone who buys one will be in that demographic of course Rolling with laughter

It's just at the quoted example of £48k it's not sensible for him, or me either Thumbs Up SD4 HSE Lux

At 48k it must have some options added, as from LR web site the HSE Lux with no options comes in at a final price £42,995.00. Having just bought MY13 HSE Lux I just can't look. Big Cry MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Showroom models are always heavily specced. I'm out of my depths, I've never spent this much on a new car, well not spent yet.

@Pete69, apologies, took your comment out of context, I've got bad man flu, crabbit with everyone today Laughing Thumbs Up 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

No worries.
Trying to say in a Top Gear style journalism way £48+ for this vehicle is truly Nuts.
If your in the market for a car orientated softroader, i'm sure you will enjoy it (as long as you can duck under the tailgate)

Leave Top Gear to the journalism Laughing

I must admit it's more than I was intending to spend, at least I kept it under £40k. I still break out in sweats

With the DS I get best of both worlds, comfort of a car (not that the Fl2 isn't comfy), room for the dogs and being a LR it will cope with all weathers.

Tailgates fine for me. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I may not sound it but was actually full of enthusiasm for this vehicle after reading all the literature and stuff arriving via email from LR.
Unfortunately the reality of a test drive and inspection has not met with reality for my needs. If i wasn't still working it may work for me, but the 6th and 7th seats would be redundant either way.
I guess if I wasn't working, I couldn't afford it, so academic probably.
Anyone got a 12m-18m old FL for sale?

I will never use the 3rd row seating, I don't understand why LR can't offer the 5 seater from the start.

Up until the launch I was under the impression it would start at around £27k, once the shape of the DS emerged I was a bit shocked as that wasn't what I was expecting but it's grown on me, except the rear lights. Is certainly not for everyone. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
