Has anyone developed an ECU re-map to offset the EGR removal problems? I know this is possible with many VAG engines now. eh tu?

Re: Smoke from the exaust

Hi, I'm new here, I've got 2010 LR2 E-type, diesel with manual gearshift from january this year (6000 miles). Can someone jelp me about this: namely when I put a middle to hard acceleration on the pedal I've got a plenty of smoke (gray or mid-black). The cars behind me are in cloud of smoke. Is this normal for a new car or something is wrong? In the service gave me an unsatisfied answer (the car is new, the fuel is bad etc.). Please someone direct me what to do?

It may be that your engine is regenerating the DPF. Go for a run on the motorway and if it still persists, that atrip to the dealer is in order. As for the EGR valve. Its basically there to channel shi*ty exhaust gas back through the cylinders to reduce emission and car road tax.

Came across this thread now and thought i would chip in..

I had my ECU remapped during the week and also they 'deleted' the EGR function from within the software. I also now have a blanking plate which I just need to fit.

So far no hassles but loads of power!!!!

I would be very interested to hear about fuel consumption after the ECU remapping, before and after fitting the EGR blanking plate.

In seven years my free 2 has already covered 254,000 kilometers. with the 'closed EGR ever had drops in performance and fuel economy always have minimum levels, in winter on consumption 6.5 l / 100 km while in summer ....... not consumption never more than 5.6-5.9 l / 100 km .......... I also deleted the vapors blow engine oil in a diverting oil catch tank ......'m in love with this car ..........
