Since I fitted the extra earth strap it has always spun over with avengeance , even when its been -6 or more so if yours cranks over slowly I would check the earthing voltage . For me apart from a bad engine earth it also had a corroded body earth internally in the cable which couldn't be seen as it was shrink wrapped.

But I can confirm they shouldn't turn over slowly in the cold and my HDC, ABS or engine reduced power has never appeared again.

I don't think it's an earth issue. Good point! I did the commute TK work this Morning with the heated seat on and heated screen on and when I got in the car after work I got the warning light in question. I shall try it tomorrow without the heated extras on and see if it appears again. Although the daily commute at the moment is 3 miles. This is about to rise to 16 miles and hopefully that'll get rid of the idea the battery isn't fully charged. Fingers crossed.

Our 07 plate does it. LR said it's cold weather.

Exactly the same here - and it has always been like that during winter as today when starting in -7 C

helcar - fit a second earth lead from battery terminal to starter motor. Fixed mine, no problem with cold starting/HDC fault indications - all gone.

I had the same problem with the warning message, (wallet started to twitch!) Then on one of the coldest mornings of this winter the battery died, replaced the original battery (8 year old) and have not seen the message since even though it has been colder overnight. So in my humble opinion change the battery first is the route to go down, especially if the motor sounds slow to turn over from cold.

I have the same issue with the hdc light and abs light. But mine comes on after I take a left turn. Sounds odd I know.
But when I restart the engine lights go out. Then down the road left turn it comes on again.

Can anyone help as I have an mot next week.

Mine was an abs speed sensor. replaced the bearing and sensor.
Solved all problems and even cruise control working.

Thanks, I was thinking about the bearing as another possible problem.

It is frustrating that the problem seems to be intermittent, with the only consistant error message being a faulty sensor. Only dead fish go with the flow

I bought one on eBay. Just search for "Battery earth cable 35mm" You need a cable of at least 31" total length, fitted with 35x10 eyelet at one end, 35x6 at the other. They will make it up to size for you.
