In 2008 We had our leon cupra stolen when they broke in and stole the keys but left my td5 which was sat next to it on the drive, I couldn't believe it!

I owned a 90 for seven years and took sensible precautions but never worried about it being stolen, that's what insurance is for.

At least with Defenders being so easy to steal you don't need to worry about theives breaking into your house to get your keys. That happened to my next door neighbour while his whole family were in the house so that they could take his BMW Shocked

Chesterfield police did a free marker system (not sure what is was ) for people with Landrovers beceause of the high volume of stolen cars.

They gave you a SelectaDNA advanced marking system and told you how to use it, my Discovery 4 was done.

Brother in law has had two stolen off his drive, reckons that they are stripped and shipped overseas, Africa has a huge market for Defender parts.

My son who works in Africa reckons that it's unlikely as you don't see many LandRovers these days. Mainly Landcruisers.

By far the majority of stolen Defenders get broken up for parts - the back street spares network sadly doesn't bear close scrutiny and the roads are populated by many more 'ringers' than you realise. RR/RRS/Evoques however are most likely headed for export. Td4 XS manual, Orkney Grey, MY2014

My sister had her defender tech stolen off her drive just before xmas.
3 weeks previous travellers turned up in her area. Coincidence? Whistle
