First time I have used winter tyres, I have been guilty of being a naysayer in previous years, however, they really to perform massively better.
I don't think they will be mandatory here, politicians are too woolly arsed to make decisions that matter.
It's white over here at the moment with snow showers forecast tomorrow, maybe I will get to try out the "Nokian snow claws"
Anyway, isn't it about time you are back in a Freelander ... You know you want too Whistle

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Orkney Grey

drove home from Stockton to Ayrshire tonight about 40 miles from home down came the snow....
So glad I have 4wd and winter tyres .... unfortunately that didn't help too much since everyone in front was stuck trying to get up the small hills Sad
The car however was superb so surefooted and has converted me to the use of winter tyres

Indeed. Not only did I manage to pull off the drive in thick snow in the Fiesta but I decided to test it out on ice. I drove up a hill on a housing estate which was covered in compacted snow.

The said snow had ice on the surface thanks to -5C overnight. On summer tyres, you wouldn't make the turn let alone the hill but I went further and stopped halfway up to see if I could get going again. Initially there was wheel spin but I got going without rolling back. Superb.

Using summer tyres in winter is like going for a walk in winter (be it snow or rain) in sandals. They will get you about but they don't do you any favours when its cold, major problems and lack of progress when it snows, distinct lack of grip and basically not fit for purpose. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Forecast to freeze tonight, we have been having hail showers all day which compacts to ice, it will be fun when it all freezes.

Went for a drive earlier, have a look around the manor ...

I've not had much of a chance to play in the snow, spent most of it in my company car Laughing

Can't really add any photos to this thread myself as its nice and sunny down here, but a fellow bike forum member got caught out in a sleet shower, dropped his bike and took a photo of it. Have to say, amazing looking photo, pity he got the bike in it really.

Latest thoughts on snow is that they cannot call it. The forecast models are struggling with anything beyond 12 hours and as such you could see a forecast of heavy rain for your area during Tuesday only to look out the window and witness a blizzard!
Vice versa possible too I might add.

One thing we are facing up to is widespread hard frosts. Fire up the heated windscreen Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Another fair hailstorm here in the last 30 minutes, covered all the tyre tracks in the close and due to freeze tonight.

Brilliant sunshine here at lunchtime today so went for a walk in the local forest which is a mile away. Blizzard conditions there, like another World. Got back home, no snow whatsoever. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Just started snowing here but only light snow. Not even forecast! The met have forecast light snow most of the day here on Wednesday with a bout of heavy snow around 6am.
