Cold start prob - does low battery affect injectors ?

Have been having cold start probs - glow light comes on / off - starts but sounds like not running on all cylinders for a few seconds, then settles down. Asked local garage ( Indy ) about checking glow plugs and they said not a quick job, but also said there was something where if battery voltage dropped below a certain threshold ( eg when cold ) then it could cut out one or two of the injectors inititially. Anyone heard of this ?
Am not sure now whether to go ahead and change battery first before re visiting the glow plugs, but don't want to fork out for new battery if not needed.
After that initial cold start ( from about 1 degree or less outside temp ) in the morning, she starts no prob the rest of the day
( have tried fitting secondary earth per another thread, which has helped a little bit although not totally cured it

Just wondered if anyone else heard of the injector thing with low battery voltage ? Freelander 2

You could give the battery a good charge and see if that helps.

Once it's running, the battery has done its bit, more likely be Glow Plugs.

Low battery voltage would have a greater effect upon cranking rather than glow plugs. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Both my fl2's have a rough idle when starting from cold. My old my11 did it and my new my14 does it but slightly worse. If the car is left for a few days and then started in temps below 2C then It always runs poor for about 3-4 seconds.

A loan car I had did the same as well so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Starting in cold - finland

its kinda funny to read that you guys have problems starting in cold ( did u mean -1 degree, or +1 degree ? )?

Here in north, finland we have allmost everyday cold and getting allways colder. We kinda dont mind about cranking car in cold and we think its like a normal behavior when its cold hehe... but still havent left on road because of it. Only thing which we have to think about is when it drops below -20 it would be nice to build some mask to grill avoiding the cold blast to keep the heat on engine better =)

Thanks for the replies - as suggested by Wurzil153 I think I'll just leave it for now and see how she goes ! Freelander 2
