Jaguar F-Pace

The new SUV name.Or at least it is according to Autocar. Could be something for the Discovery Sport antis?

Better looking than some but can't see the point, it's more likely to steal sales from LR than other manufacturers. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

It looks interesting but I would need to see what its capabilities are before considering it as a replacement. Looks more like competition for the Evoque for people who will never go off-road.

The U seems to be disappearing from SUV these days. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver

Don't think so - the DS antis want something that's more 'U', not less!

As far as off-road goes, 'none' would appear to be the answer to that:

Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover global operations director, in the above-mentioned article wrote:

Wonder if there will be a LR or RR version in the same way (for example) VW Touraeg / Audi Q5 Question Now:

Jaguar F-Pace

Well what are your thoughts? Estimated to be priced from just over the £30k mark, and the size of BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Discovery Sport.

I think JLR have been very clever in not just getting a RRS, Evoque or DS and putting a Jaguar body on it. It will be a more driver focused SUV but with decent off road capability. It should prevent cross over in product and sales.

One advantage I see, is that is built on the F-Type platform, the engines with be longitudinally mounted like the rest of the Jags which is also important.

Personally, I think this could turn out to be a good alternative to a DS? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Much better looking than the DS - might even consider it myself when X3 replacement is due in 2017 - I wonder how it will be priced compared to the LR range - still think it will rob sales off LR but at the end of the day they are the same company so won't have any effect. Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

It won't have any effect what so ever on LR sales. Think about it, if they had dressed an Evoque or RRS in a Jaguar dress, then yes you have a problem as both will have the same off road capabilities and be in effect the same car. So would steel sales from each other.

But the F-Pace is a fundamentally different car, aiming at a different type of customer.

It is no secret that I don't like the BMW X Range because there is no passion about the design, they are typical German boring cars, but they do drive well. You can't take that away from them. But for me, the idea of an SUV is to have that raised comfortable driving position which the BMW X range fails. The BMW X Range has a much more sporting drive, which some absolutely love.

The F-Pace is going to put up against this type of car. It will be a more direct competitor to the X3 than the DS is.

Q5 and DS are both based on front wheel drive transverse layouts with power going to the rear when needed. The DS has unrivalled off road capabilities, with the Q5 coming a distant last lol

The F-Pace is based on a RWD longitudinal platform and has more in common with an X3 than an Evoque or DS. So will have very different road manners and drive in a different way. The BMW X Range are designed to be sporty SUV's which I personally don't see the point, but their sales clearly say other wise, I just hope the F-Pace is more interesting and has more personality and soul than the X Range.

In theory it should be very similar to the X3 in the way it drives, but Jaguar have said, that it needs to drive better and I hope at least be able to handle 1/2" of snow.

But it is not going to be marketed as a full on off road capable SUV. It will be a success if they price it right. Also the V6 engines will be available, which is something that LR can't offer in the DS or Evoque due to its transverse engine layout, the front cylinder head ends up too close to the bonnet for pedestrian safety laws.

This is a shame as I have seen the prototype Freelander 2 2.7 TDV6 and I am told it was a cracking car, but could not be built for the reasons above.

I say, well done JLR for offering another product that will attract more people to the brand. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Looks do nothing for me and I much prefer the stance and styling of the DS.

The Jag looks like a Volvo C30 has humped a Mazda CX5.

It will sell in the market its designed for, i.e. the morons who buy BMWs currently, who want a car that has minimal off ability, but can go across a grass field or muddy patch so their precious babies can go horse riding, yet look good in Cheshire.
Like the Evoque, it will sell in the 100,000's to those who want a Jag badge instead of a Land Rover/RR badge
