I was certainly all lined up to buy a DS this year to replace my excellent but ageing FL2. Still awaiting my test drive, but now far from certain that existing models of DS are right for me. Tbh I still feel disappointed with this product launch; just hoping that the other models we've been told are on the way will include one that appeals more, and is worth the significant investment.

Funnily enough I sat down over the Christmas holidays and drew up a short list as really the FL2 is a killer to run as a company car given the BIK I pay personally and then through Employers NI as well. Anyway, in no particular order:

My next car will probably be the Ford Edge , I was waiting until it comes out in March but with LR discounting the Freelander & throwing all the goodies in it I thought it was too good a chance to pass up not to buy one. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !! |

Space is limited in the X1, for what looks like a reasonably big car on the outside rear seat space especially is poor. We bought a VW Tiguan after looking at X1 and Audi Q3. |

I test drove a manual, DS yesterday but I will not be ordering one. I suppose I would get used to some of my gripes with it with time. There is no full size spare which is on my list of essentials, seven seats are not. There is no option for a sun roof that opens, something I enjoy in fine weather. The electric assist steering felt twitchy and I didnt like it. The rear mirror view is very Evoqueish. Also I didn`t like the handbrake. The driving position is lower in the car. The seat was in its highest position so the command driving position has gone. Something I will investigate is giving my manual FL2 190 PS (its Bluefinned but this doesn`t address its lack of starting torque) the DS pulls away as the 150 PS manual ought to. If anybody has done this please let me know; are the clutch parts interchangeable ?

I've got one of these coming I was very pleasantly surprised how nice they are, not seven seats but a massive boot, the rear seats fold down dead flat , and no messing about with the rear headrests just press the release button and the headrest flips as the seat drops . Fantastic smooth ride and lower running costs than the freelander ours is a r design d4 181bhp auto, 0 tax first year, £110 second year, a manual would be £30 . Real fuel figures seem to be mid to high 30's short trips a friend of mine seems to get 50 mpg on longish trips , and my service cost is £300 for three years. And the seats are awesome , it's something I've never considered one but glad I had a look at something completely off my radar and looking at the new xc 90 that is about to be launched the future volvo cars are looking good.

Very nice, I like the XC60. The new V60 Cross Country looks nice, I would consider one. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

Something that might be no use whatsoever on our roads. Ralph Schumachers Toyota wrecked within 5 minutes of start.

Yes, the XC60 is a lovely car. Well made with lots of kit as standard. My wife has a 2014 XC60, we fully intended to have another Freelander 2 but thought we would have a quick look in our local Volvo dealership before going to LR, saw the XC60 in the showroom and loved it!

Ok for the uninitiated, what is a MACAN then? Hit it he said, Hit it!--So I hit it, then he hit me---Doh! |
