I can clearly make out Airbag outline on dash, is it normal?

Hi

The subject is pretty self explanatory but on my dash on the passenger side there is a blatantly obvious U shaped outline of where the airbag is, I think it looks cheap and a number of people have commented on it when riding in my car which makes me confident it isn't just me being picky

I have never had this problem even in far cheaper cars and wonder whether there is something wrong with my dash as it seems very 'unlandrover'

It's a 2011 si6 SE in santorini black.. If others with this same car can let me know if this is normal or not that would be great

Thanks, Luke 2011 black FL2

Thumbs Up
Totally normal, don't worry.
Apply a dash protector product on it (cream/oil), and you wont notice it.

Hello Lukeis, I have the same model si6 SE, also Santorini Black; the outline you see is normal, it's where the dash covering is deliberately weakened to allow the air bag to deploy properly. Some manufacturers actually mould the break away panel into the top of the panel and make a feature of it.I believe it is a deliberate decision to make it that way by Land Rover, not a cost cutting exercise.
Cheers, Graham.

Not quite so... Normally this should be the look...
Indeed if you look closely you would notice it, but not at the first sight...

They become more noticeable as time goes on. The sun bleaches the dash little by little as each year pass's and the airbag line becomes more noticeable. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Yeah our 2010 Xs is the same. Since it came from the Scottish Highlands I can't see sun damage being the cause haha

airbag outline

Hi guys,
my FL2 has gone beyond the outline and it now has a hairline crack on the dashboard in the top right corner of the passenger air bag. Is this a safety issue if anybody knows and could I get LR to fix it somehow?

Thanks,

Mine also has a small crack on the top right corner...guess age and hot sun both play their part
