Happy New Year to all!

As I have now got a front facing dashcam, I am wondering about investing in a rear car camera. I don't want to pay for a more premium product just a cheaper one will do. That said, I don't want it to be rubbish either.

Any thoughts/recommendations on what might do the job and typical price range?

Thanks Paul. That does look good value. Is the viewing screen switched off during recording? I guess it would be distracting at night if not!

No it does stay on but it's quite dull so it doesn't bother me,I'm sure they do one without the screen .

I have the same camera, maybe earlier model and mine comes with ignition

Screen turns off shortly after

I have that one for my forward facer. Brilliant for the money! Get a decent SD for it.
Get the GPS version.

I wanted something very discrete but the Mi-Witness is quite expensive and didn't get good reviews in the latest Which? report
The GPS "bit" is actually in the mount that sticks to the screen. You can opt for a non GPS mount if you want.
The power lead also connects to the mount which I liked. To remove the camera you simply slide it off the mount
You can also have it with / without in built 8G memory - I ordered one without. Personal choice.
It also has an in-built battery so it can be used remotely for <10mins - allegedly
If I like it then I'll buy another mount (with GPS) and power lead for the Classic.....
That way I can swap it over with minimum effort.

It might be too cheap, but at £30 it will also have a years warranty and at that sort of money it's replaceable if it messes up

Sorry my bad I have a blackvue in the front but didn't want to spend a lot of money on a rear one so I opted for this one.The image quality is very good for the price reading number plates no problem and the image is very stable,I thought it might be a bit shaky with that mount but it isn't at all.Dont knock it till you've tried it.

Well I've found the second 12V socket so I have made a purchase. It is just behind the handbrake, facing the rear passenger seats. There should be enough cable to route it neatly around from the camera to the socket.

The only issue now is placement. I can't put it in the centre due to the wiper blade obstructing the view so I think the drivers side would be best. I will then get a good view of the tailgating Audi driver who will inevitably appear at some point.  LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Alternatively pick up a feed from a spare slot in the boot fuse box......?
Use a piggy back fuse etc.
just make sure it's one that goes dead when ignition is off or flat battery will ensue
You won't be disappointed with the eprance for the money.

If you don't want to use a piggy back fuse and the supplied lead doesn't reach your 12v socket then just buy an extension lead. Wot I did for my front one.
