I see now. The one Paul has is the earlier model with the Novatek chip. Mine has the Ambarella chip in it which makes it more expensive but the earlier model makes a great rear dash cam. Might get one myself now Thumbs Up

The E-Prance has arrived. I will have a go at setting it up after dinner. It comes with a sucker pad as opposed to the 3M adhesive pad. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Sucker pad is the Novatek cheaper one. 3M pad is the dearer Ambarella one. Hence the latter has a smaller overall footprint.
Hope it works out for the rear ok Thumbs Up
Post some piccies of it when fitted. Might get myself one to complement the front Ambarella version Thumbs Up * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

All fitted now and the sucker pad seems ok touch wood! Too dark to get photo's now (will post some at a later stage) but it was easy to adjust the camera so it was level and pointing at the correct angle.

I positioned it on the drivers side and the screen showed a good clear wide angle view of the front of the house so I guess the daytime view of the mandatory Audi tailgater will be good.

The cable easily tucked away behind the rear seats and under the rear mats. The only problem is, the 12V socket in the back is always on. The one in the front which is in use by the Roadhawk DC-2, goes off when I turn the ignition off but not the back one. I better remember to plug it out when I leave the car or it might be flat battery time!

Is the default setting 1 minute files on a loop? The Roadhawk is and overwrites the oldest files when full. I bought a 16GB card for it.

If it worries you you could fit a Power Magic in the circuit for the rear camera, that way you can choose at what voltage the camera shuts down.
It won't have any effect whatsoever on the performance of the engine Wink

You can change it via the menu on mine to 3 or 5. Yours should have the same option...
Great if you can post some pics of where it is mounted. Top corner of drivers side? * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

The pad is secured almost at the top of the screen roughly behind the rear passenger headrest. The camera therefore sits lower down, approx halfway. I will review the first day's footage tomorrow night.

Happy with the 1 minute file length, I just wondered if it was the default setting or if I needed to change it. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

A fine victory for sods law today Rolling Eyes

As I was about to pull onto the top of the drive at home tonight and reverse on, a motor scooter rider decided to beat the traffic by driving along the kerb. The front camera just missed him but the rear camera would have got the perfect view of it and his number plate.... if it hadn't have fallen out of the window on the way home Censored Evil or Very Mad

The sucker pad was still secure, it was the part where the camera slides into the catch of the mount. Oh well, I will review the footage from this morning just to see what the picture is like before it fell out of the window! LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Is it a loose fit? Blue tax maybe ?

Blue Tax? Is that another new scheme from Osbourne? Laughing

The fitting is secure enough, it may have become loose during all the faffing last night so I have re-secured it now. The lowered sports suspension on the ST doesn't help in that respect. It just about snaps your spine in half over speed bumps so it will almost certainly upset the camera mount!

On the plus side, the video quality seems fine. I don't have daylight footage at the moment as I am driving to work in the dark and home in the dark. Looks good though Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I've given up trying to set the time and date on the thing Rolling Eyes The instructions are mostly in Russian and the bit in English seems to refer to menu settings for a Toshiba microwave from 1993.

I'm happy just settling for the picture quality as the front facing Roadhawk will provide the time, date and location. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
