Colour coding GS spec trim

Mine is a 2008 FL2 GS in Alaska White. It has factory roof rails/cross bars and factory privacy glass from B pillar back.

Im thinking about getting the black front/rear lower spoilers, black lower door trims and black wing mirrors colour coded. (leave the door handles in matt black??)

Also the side vents and front grill in gloss black. (its the older style grill/bumper combo on the front)

What are peoples opinions on the above ideas?

Any other suggestions to colour code/improve the looks?

cheers

Rog

I would colour code the pieces in Alaska White that you have mentioned and I would personally colour code the rear D pillar!

Are your door handles the textured matt black? If so I would shot the grills and side vents over in matt black also to match the handles! Gloss grills and side vents may look odd with textured handles Neutral

End of the day its really your car your choice there is no wrong answer and none of these mods will devalue your FL2 Thumbs Up MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I like the idea of the matt black vents and grill to match the door handles. I also like your idea of colour coding the B and D pillars too, Im guessing yours are wrapped ?

There is an ebay seller that has various shades of black handles and side vents so need to see if its cheaper to buy the handle covers/replacement vents or to have them painted.

Does anyone know if the grill has to come out to be sprayed or can it be done in situ ?

I did not paint my B pilliars as I felt to much white would cheapen the car. Plus they are a satin finish which I actually liked Laughing

Take a look at my bio ...
http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic18937.html

My D pillars were painted from new by the dealers they sanded them down smooth and then went over them in Fuji White. I have seen some L322's & L320's actually get a clear wrap over them and then paint them (saves you sanding them down).

I have a lot of gloss black on my car to balance the extra white and I dont think its to white if that makes sense.

Ron got his grill painted whilst on the car, Im sure he will have his input to share Very Happy

White is a striking colour and I have seen many white cars over dressed in white but as long as you have a good balance you should be fine Thumbs Up

If painting the mirrors I would only paint the upper part and not the lower part or the whole assembly as it looks wrong IMO MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

budget probably wont extend to removing and sanding/painting the D pillars so will no doubt leave them as is.

There are full mirror caps on ebay in Alaska White, and gloss black handles (will just need to ensure they fit my handles if i go that route)

looking at your bio your car looks pretty good, definitely unique. Personally the Kahn mods dont do it for me as it looked spot on as it was IMHO but I do like the rest of it Very Happy

As it stands at the moment and having seen your pics LRNUT then I reckon gloss black grill (if feasible), gloss black vents and door handles including rear boot handle. mirrors and lower half colour coded in Alaska White.

All dependant on what the body shop says that is Laughing

Thats a lot of business your giving to a body shop! No harm in asking them about the D pillars! You may be suprised as the dealers charged me a reasonable price for mine Thumbs Up

Looking forward to the photos the transformation will be immense Very Happy MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

enquired on email and he reckons about £250 but needs to see it to give a more accurate figure.

Painting required would be the black plastic door trims and the bottom of the front and rear bumpers in white, plus the grill and rear handle in gloss black dependant on cost

I can buy the mirror caps, door handles and possibly the vent off Ebay (the vent is apparently easily removed so could even do it myself)

I'll know more this weekend when I drop in to the bodyshop and also ask about the D pillar as I quite like it Thumbs Up

they smartened up and sprayed gloss black my sons wheels for his Insignia for £200 and made a good job of it.
