After scratching my head quite a bit I've decided to stop before I break something!

Does anyone know how to get the silver trim off the dashboard and gearstick surround?

The portion on the glovebox is badly scratched on mine so I'm going to remove it and paint it - but that also means the two bits either side of the wheel and the gearstick surround have to be done the same colour

Can anyone help?

Each dash trim peice is screwed from the back. Have a look under the 'My Freelander section' and look for my thread called '!y Freelander Autobiography' I have a section there on replacing the parts you mention.

I'll have a look for that thread you mention. I didn't think it was possible to screw the glovebox one on, as the back is solid plastic? I'll have a closer look

I fitted silver dash trim to mine and it didn't need screws, it's all just held in place by3m sticky tape.
So my thought would be to get a hot hairdryer on it and gently prise off.
In fact, I think I had two strips for the glovebox - will have a look around for the spare one. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Do you mean the glovebox section is glued on? Or the bit around the light control panel too?

All my silver trim had sticky tape - glove box, under key, light switch, gear surround plus l & r dash.

Will look in garage tomorrow for that other bit - too dark & not got any power there since cavity wall chap drilled through the electric cable ! FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Yep, found the silver bit in the garage.
No idea why I got two, but trust they're both the same.

well finally got an update on this

The trim above the glove box is actually held on by a single screw on the drivers side, once removed the whole thing slides off to the left!

totally the opposite of almost every other bit of evidence here, very strange!

The key dock and light control surrounds are held on by a small twist locking washer accessed from behind

I think you'll find the one you described as held on by 3m tape are after market alternatives or if you have base model which didn't have fitted from factory the aftermarket supplied ones have tape as there is
no fixating holes in the fascia.
The OE ones ie, silver, black, GB laquer and Dark Chestnut are the OE LR parts and are held on with fixtures throught the fascia.

my only guess is that the stick on strips were to change the colour of the factory items without having to remove them

Wasn't that hard to get them off once all the clips had been located
