Quite a few cars seem to have fairly dark front windows but still lighter than the rear windows. I don't know the %.

Cooled seats are not going to help. It is the initial contact when you get into the car that a layer of skin is removed. I will leave a towel on the seat. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Oh yes J! My only criticism about the FL2 really is that that heated seats have two levels of heat intensity which lets be honest yes take the chill off the seat but never really go burning hot Laughing Unlike the disco which has a toasty three Thumbs Up Even the D2 seats have to be turned off as if feels like they will catch fire Laughing

Unless its stated in other handbooks, nowhere does it state in my owner manual that a spacesaver has to go on a particular axle, only to ensure DSC is turned off and other than the latest Haldex I don't think the 4WD system will have changed in this new car other than cosmetic.

It is just that there is less braking and steering at the back of the car. If you stick a biscuit on the front just be even more careful. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

That's a very interesting comment Ed, many people complaining about the price, but ordering the top spec model?

I think it has two ideal target markets Mav from LR's point of view

1. Those with disposable income will spec top end models without even really paying much attention to the specification levels across the range.

2. Those who cannot buy a brand new discovery. An MY15 SE full fat (sounds weird calling a disco that Laughing) cost £41595 IIRC.

A DS HSE LUX manual is £41195 and auto is £42995.

So a top spec manual DS is still short of £400 against its big brother which is only a basic model - Christ it doesn't even have leather seats for that price Rolling Eyes

The auto HSE LUX DS only costs £1400 more than the entry spec full fat.

At the end of the day as we all know it's nice to have the toys but essentially the running gear is the same underneath!

Good point. I Think also it is a case that people new to the brand also see its a Discovery starting at £32k.

I look forward to the small Audi Q3 sized Discovery to be launched, then at least there is a model to cover all budgets.

The baby Disco is supposed to be a lot of fun from what I have been told. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

From memory its 3, will check it out on Wednesday. Make or break day, the only thing I'm struggling with is the lower seating postion, everything else fits the bill. Still tempted by a full fat Disco SE but get more for my money on the DS but my current D4 is a GS which has nothing on it, which doesn't bother me as such it does what it says on the tin. I think the new SE has a tiny bit more. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I understand that the reason we can't have privacy glass all round is that the EU specified that cars have to be the same across the EU. This mean that a car in say Greece, where all round tinted glass would be a good idea in the summer, would be unusable in the north of Finland where it's dark and cold for half the year. The compromise is dark at the back and clear at the front. Makes sense ? (no not me either)

We have VOSA in the UK who made illegal to have the front drops tinted. I do not think it is a EU thing as a French forum member on here recenlty posted that his dark 35% were legal.

A company in the states tested a motorcycle visors tinted at 70% against ones tinted at 50% (light tint) and they claimed that the results were harldy noticable and that they could no undertand why a 50% tint is not acceptable. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Looks like it all started in 1992 with an EU directive

EEC Directive 92/22/EC glass tested in accordance with that directive meets the necessary light transmission requirements (ie 75% or 70%).
C&U# Regulation 32 does not specifically prohibit any window from having a tinted film applied, but a window with a tinted film which takes light transmittance levels below those specified above could be interpreted as contravening the Regulation.

If a vehicle's windows were excessively tinted by the use of stick-on film or a spray, there may be a contravention of C&U# Regulation 30. This requires that all glass or other materials fitted must be maintained in such a condition that it does not obscure the vision of the driver. Again, it does not specifically prohibit those windows from having a tinted film applied, but doing so could be interpreted as contravening the Regulation.

You should also be aware that C&U# Regulation 100(1) requires:

a motor vehicle, and all its parts and accessories to be at all times such that no danger is caused, or is likely to be caused, to any person in or on a vehicle or on a road.

I blame UKIP Laughing
