Mav71, can you comment on the regular HSE leather vs the Lux Windsor?

The DS HSE Lux leather doesn't have as much of the ruffled effect as the Freelander as it has a 'ribs' design stitched in to the seats which tightens it up. But it still have a slight ruffled effect on the top panels of the seats. I would say it is better that the Freelanders leather, due to the way the panels are put together which should allow it to keep its shape and stay tighter for longer.

Been drifting through this thread...having ordered a DSport HSE....can't quite get my head around all the criticism of the launch engine...all those who have a late (or earlier FL2) seem to have lumped out money on a vehicle with the same 'old' venerable 2.2 engine strange it wasn't a problem then we have known about JLR's plans to intro a new range of engines for a good while now ...the 2.2 hasn't stopped Ewok sales exceeding ever expectation.... |

In the UK 2,500 people have placed orders for the DS! Interestingly 3/4 of these are for the HSE/HSE LUX MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

That's a very interesting comment Ed, many people complaining about the price, but ordering the top spec model? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |

Good point. I have always said there is nothing wrong with the 2.2, but I can't help but think it is a mistake launching an all new car with an old power unit. Can you imagine if JLR launched the new Jag XE with the old engine? It would get slated. All the press reports I have read have been favourable about the DS, but the only real criticism being the old engine. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. The ones complaining about the price won't have ordered at all I suspect, I wonder what the percentage of private sales v lease company sales is? |

Very True! I don't think the company car driver will be ordering them yet, as a £35k car with emmisions as high as the DS is at present will mean massive company car tax bills. The net tax per month for a 40% tax payer would be between £260 and £300. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. I'll admit I was expecting it to be a bit cheaper than it is, especially with the old engine. My original order was SE but by the time I went through the option list I was at HSE prices. So thought may as well go for it. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

I think it has two ideal target markets Mav from LR's point of view 1. Those with disposable income will spec top end models without even really paying much attention to the specification levels across the range. 2. Those who cannot buy a brand new discovery. An MY15 SE full fat (sounds weird calling a disco that ) cost £41595 IIRC. A DS HSE LUX manual is £41195 and auto is £42995. So a top spec manual DS is still short of £400 against its big brother which is only a basic model - Christ it doesn't even have leather seats for that price The auto HSE LUX DS only costs £1400 more than the entry spec full fat. At the end of the day as we all know it's nice to have the toys but essentially the running gear is the same underneath!
