United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

Just done front and rear pads using genuine LR parts (via Duckworth on this forum) about £110 in total. Easy job, takes longer to jack the car up and take the wheel off than to replace the actual pads. Allow 1 hour per wheel and the satisfaction that you know it's been done correctly. If the car wasn't under warranty I could have done it for about half the price using Eurocarparts and aftermarket parts.

ps it's interesting to see the Ford FoMoCo logo on the front calipers. I wonder if Transit Van parts would fit?

Yes they are Steve, and Volvo S80.

In response to the original thread. Dealer should not be charging for exploratory work - Fact. This will be a dealers way of getting more money and once again giving dealers a bad name.

They get paid by LR for investigation work on potential warranty issues. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Hi MAV and thanks for the info from all.

Ok i admit, i'm no mechanic, so paid GBP 209 for the rear pads... yes i am ashamed. let's move on.

They did the rear Diffs under warranty, they took is for a road test and although the noise has improved, there is still some noise, which they believe maybe haldex issue.

I said ok.. so what do es that mean for me?

They say book it in again for early Jan as vehicle is ok to drive.
They will get an inspector to come out then i belive to sanction the work?? Shocked hopefully.

I believe they should cover the work as under warrenty, but Dealership said they need the inspector to approve it, therefore they cannot guarantee that this will be the case. Shocked Shocked ..

car does feel firmer, somehow, and they did give it a wash and scrub.

Loan car was MY14 Metropolis which is nice, best feature: heated steering wheel; normally my drive style is 3 or 4 fingers on the wheel, but heated, you just want to hug the wheel and drive!! Rolling with laughter easily pleased.

good day to all...and thanks again and yes.. by the next time i am going to learn how to change my own brake pads myself. Whistle

All the best with inspector. I just hope its not the same one who road tested my new FL in 2010 for a vibration/resonance. He contacted me to say that he was NOT instructing any repairs as car was normal. I replied that the 2008 model i traded in after 30k never had that problem nor did loan car. He then talked a load of total crap till I advised that I had 40 years experience in motor trade the last 18 as service manager with Ford. His unbelievable reply to that was I quote "if you have all the experience you profess to have of motor trade you should know that NO manufacturer has ever built a vehicle that does not have a vibration"

I won in the end. A couple of months later in the course of my motor sport hobby (National Scrutineer) I spoke with a LR Engineer who explained exactly what was wrong with my FL, I contacted customer relations , who had a file on matter over the months of complaint, told them what I knew and 3 weeks later and a small cash input I had a new SD GS on an 11 plate. All FL2's (3) Gone

Greetings druand
I have a 2009 HSE Auto and it has awful vibration/resonance at 1800 rpm. The dealership had it for a few days, fitted a new torque converter and rear disc's. This made a slight improvement.
After much complaining an inspector came with me for a test drive. He told me the same as your inspector.
Did you discover what was causing the problem?
Regards Paul.

SNEVET 68
My car was a 2010 GS Auto identical to my 2008 car
From day 1 the vibration I had was most noticeable at 70 mph in top gear and more pronounced when pulling up a slight incline, still noticeable at 1800-200 rpm going through gears. It was not a violent vibration like wheel balance or serious transmission, felt more through foot well and drivers footrest, also (don't laugh) tickling tizz on steering wheel, very annoying when on cruise at 70 mph legal limit. Did not drive through till nearly 80 mph.
Any other info PM me. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.
