any recommendations?
the pressure washer appears to have removed a fair bit
before I pop to the DIY centre to get some matte grey spray.

You can get a crackle black exhaust paint from motorcycle dealers (probably from motor factors too) that gives a really nice finish to boxes. Comes as a spray can and seems to last forever. I've used it on exhausts from mowers to bikes, cars and boats. Once its on it seems to stay on. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory

Seem to recall a forum member using stove / bbq spray paint with good results.
