As the PSA Group (Peugeot/Citroën) - one of the key diesel engine manufactures, that's a bit rich coming from the French. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Erm, they already did - this is a policy of post-revolution France! Strange how similar post-revolution policies turn out to be in comparison with those of revolution-free countries. As Orwell predicted, of course! Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose! |

Interesting: France is the country where the rural community has a disproportionate say in government policy; the country where the rural community overwhelmingly drives diesel vehicles; the country where diesel is still considerably cheaper at the pumps than unleaded petrol as a result.

Thats's what I was thinking. Only the French could think of this. Diesel cars have been far more popular over there & beyond for moons longer than we have had them. Still one way to look at that is it could rid us of around 90% of those horrid French cars. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red. (Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red. (Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding. (Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather. |

As someone who lives in France I can't see this happening in any meaningful way. The legislation will be fudged. You may be aware the French brought in a law saying we must all carry breathalysers in our cars - it got fudged in as much as the legislation is still there but you cannot be done for non compliance!
