Advise please. Do I just need to have the ignition on or do I need to have the engine running. So can I just leave a key in with ignition on and pop back later and hope nobody has driven off with my motor. Smile

Fob in, hit the start button quickly once and the sat nav will start up. Then swap over discs.

As above really. People have reported variable 'update' times. Mine was done immediately, but a friend's took a few hours...

If it can help someone looking into this old thread: My update took 4,5 (!) Shocked hours. My FL is from 2007 and the discs from 2013. If I had not read above post, I would have given up completely and removed the disc long before...so thank you Psyxologos!

Two notes:

1) I used original Volvo MMM2 discs; no problem (as already stated in other threads) and much cheaper than the ones from Land Rover.

2) I actually did give up and turned off the engine after 4 hours, but the update obviously continued when restarting the car...

Hi Max, what do you get on the update, just new roads or do you get any additional functionality? Where did you get your discs from? Cheers, Rich.

Hi Rich,

Let me get back after driving to work and back tomorrow!

I bought the discs on Ebay, but there are every now and then original Volvo discs for sale on the local Swedish Ebay affiliate tradera.com (only in Swedish though, even if many sellers will ship abroad) and I have seen the same discs recently, after buying mine, on bildelsbasen.se (available in English too) to a decent price. Lots of smashed Volvo's in Sweden to take discs from, as it seems... (We have enough snow in the winter, and all those elks, as you know... Wink )

Hi again,

No major differences really; some new POI:s and changed graphics for compass, TMC etc (at least as I percieved it). Basically the same look and feel.

I mainly wanted to get some new motorways + exits and industrial areas included, which were not on my old disc for Sweden. I was previously quite often "off road" according to the satnav and guided through cities instead of around them a couple of times...
