United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Tyres ordered! I didn't go for the Veridestien of what ever they are called as they only had an F rating for wet weather use!

As with you guys, I have gone for 235 55 19" Nokian SUV 3 tyres, which have a C rating for wet use.

I figured that for a total of £32 more, it was well worth it. The more I look in to it, the more I see Nokian's being used for winter!

So far, the wheels and tyres have cost me £844. But hoping to recoup some of that when I sell the Conti UHP's that are on the wheels now. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

The wet weather rating was a deciding factor for me, along with personal recommends from two forum members for the Nokian.
The Finns also know about winter weather, however, they are a very modest and reserved people, they should probably extol the virtues of their tyres more.
I took your lead and bought take offs, paid far less for them than the price of tyres alone, the brand new scorpion Verde will be sold and almost pay for the Nokians, net result is £100 for four brand new wheels.

I'd def go Nokians.
Spent a lot of time reading up and checking out winter tyres last year and concluded that Nokian were the way to go.
So bought a set of winters for my car (not FL2), ok we didn't get any snow, but ride, grip, wet etc were all better than the summer tyres I had on.
So much so, when I changed to bigger wheels, I bought a set of 'performance' summers.

In the Scandanavian countries Nokian are considered a premium tyre brand, just like Goodyear, Bridgestone etc.
It's just that over here (no doubt because they're not as well known) their considered a mid/budget tyre.

Nokian have their own proving ground and specialise in the development if winter tyres.
So Nokian are a def for me Thumbs Up FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,

I had to replace the original Continentals? M+S tyres this year and have gone with Nokian Hakkapeliita R2s.

They are what the Finns call kikarenkaat and are all weather tyres - they seem much quieter than the originals.

The local autocar type magazine seemed to think they were the best overall.

I don't know what they call them in the UK.

I do change tyres when the snow comes (it's late this year) and use Hakkapeliita 8s.

These are studded tyres so probably not necessary/unavailable (maybe illegal too) in the UK.

Yes illegal to use studs here, fascinating noise they make on metalled roads though, very peculiar.
The Finns have a huge advantage in having common sense when it comes to driving, over here people seem to think silly things like fog lights make it safer to drive fast in bad conditions.

I have fitted Nokian winter tyres this year, having previously been a ney sayer, haven't had bad conditions but certainly in the damp and salted roads they have been extremely reassuring.

Not so sure on that, if the weather was bad enough, completely covered in snow, no Tarmac visible, the law states that if you are causing damage to the road surface, if it's covered in snow you are not?
As I read it you could be charged for damaging the road surface if you had Chains on when on Tarmac.
Stand to be corrected.

Have used winter tyres at work on Disco and Volvo T5 (trial). Good in rain and snow. Not so good when they warm up, or the going gets quick, when they become slippy/sloppy, and wear out quick. The snows coming... WALLO.....
BE GOOD......IF NOT BE CAREFUL!
