United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tonga Green
Nokian

Not sure why I'm posting this, but if anyone's belatedly thinking of acquiring winter boots, well, it's just an opinion based on a new purchase…

Living in Cornwall we don't usually get "winters", it's usually windy, wet, cold and grey rather than white and on the dry side. However, a rush of blood to the head after buying a set of immaculate 17" XS (old SE) alloys fitted with part worn Contis on for an extremely, extremely good price, together with a very bad memory of two winters (2010 and 2011) when marooned at the bottom of an unthawable hill in the outback, precipitated a recent purchase of a set of winter "boots".

You guys are to blame. The vast number of references to the efficacy of "winters" swayed my thoughts and, now, I have just had a set of Nokians fitted. Amazing, astounded, impressed, delighted. Wranglers off (admittedly down to 4 +- mm) and Nokians on. The road noise lessened dramatically, "stickabiity' vastly enhanced (esp. wet conditions), I now even find myself almost hoping for a chance to try them in some of the - albeit rare and hitherto hated - winter stuff.

So, albeit late, anyone still thinking of getting winter boots - do give these a thought, they do seem to be as good as their reviews and some.

Hi piattj,

WR SUV3 on 235 65 17 - and very pleased I did (especially as the Goodyears -Wranglers) are nearing the time for change @ 4mm +-), although I will get Wranglers again when it's time to replace them. As said before, thoroughly recommend Nokians' as winter boots (mind you, I was fortunate enough to find a set of 17" style 2 LR alloys, in excellent condition, for just £53 on ebay at the end of last year…did help the decision.
