2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Central Locking Fault.

Hello everyone, I am new too the forum, having just acquired a 2008 Freelander GS .

Two days on and a problem has occurred with the central locking. When activated with the key remote, all doors, other than the drivers door lock. The alarm system however is fully activated and opening the drivers door when the rest of the vehicle is locked causes the system to give out its audible warning ( a polite way of putting it )....

Any suggestions as to a possible solution would be gratefully appreciated.

It may not be the door lock motor! Before we set off for an extended tour of France mine was doing the same! My dealer took the panel off, cleaned and adjusted the mechanism and all is well. A lot cheaper than a new door lock! 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Loire Blue

I had the same fault where the drivers door wouldn't lock, I cured it by removing the drivers door card and spraying the inside door pull cable with silicone spray. I also sprayed the locking unit through a small hole using a long straw on the spray nozzle. I reassembled the door card and my door has been locking ever since.

No joy so wipped it to the garage ...

new lock assy under warranty (phew)

now happy and secure

hi, I virtually guarantee that if one of your doors doesn't lock but the others do, and the maybe the elec window stops working as well then this control unit that controls the central locking and also the elec windows is the culprit

each door has one behind the door card held on by 3 small bolts each independent for each door
they are a known PITA

get the serial number off the one in your car as they are door specific and buy a replacement off ebay cheap

it will fix your problem im sure

My drivers door locking unit behaved right up to Christmas eve then decided to fail I had to pull the inside door handle twice to get out. once to seam to slightly release door latch second time unlocked and opened door so replace the door latch now fixed.
