Nikon Prostaff 5 bino or others

Anyone use them? i have the option to buy a pair at a good price

either the
http://www.nikon.com/products/sportoptics/.../index.htm

Nikon prostaff 5 10x42
Nikon prostaff 5 12x50

or maybe
Travellite V1 12x25CF

I don't think i'll have them out often, but might use them whilst shooting with my son at the air rifle range, to see wheres his hitting the target easier and caravaning, though i haven't used the cheapo AA binos this year Laughing

which is better 10x42 or 12x50 Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I would go for the 10x42 on the basis of field of view and weight for general use. I haven't tried the Nikon's but, as a brand, they are usually as good as it gets in terms of value for money. I went the other way and bought Leica 8x32 HD's. They are truly amazing and weigh next to nothing. I'm not sure you could justify the cost for occasional use though!

I'm torn between buying them or giving them a miss

I can get a pair for £75, but it's sort of a toss up between a good saving or a waste of £75

Can't you just get closer to the nurses accomodation so you won't need bins?

On a serious note Nick I've had Nikon binos for years (not those exact ones) but the quality and image are really good.

I've pondered and I think I'm only buying because of the deal so I'm not bothering

Thanks for the advice though Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
