Recommendations for LED front sidelight bulbs please.

As above. After fitting my xenon headlamps (thanks stownrow) my sidelights are looking particularly yellow. What are you lot using? I did have some LED ones a while ago but I nicked them for my motorcycle and I just cannot remember where I got them from. Big Cry

I used these on my last car and have fitted loads of them on my new one

He also has these, which are canbus type, which you will probably need for sidelights although the above work in my reverse lights ok.

Hi,
I replaced the standard incandescent w5w side lights with a led version 1 year ago and they worked well till some days ago. The right one has stopped to working, so I ordered two new lamps to replace both with a different led type:

Yesterday I receveid the lamp, but the right side still not working (the left works well). I tried also to mount a standard incandescent lamp without result. I know that the canbus control unit cuts off the power if there is an error in the current drain form a lamp, but if I fit a standard lamp it must works.
I haven't any idea how to solve this issue!

So, what is this canbus malarky? Do I need 'canbus' type and what problems can I expect, bearing in mind the above post!

The CanBus is the 'feed' for the lights but not in the traditional sense.
The CanBus safe LED units have a resistor built in that prevents the LED from flickering, if when you fit them they refuse to light, reverse the connection, ie turn the lamp round and it should work, down to the polarity which isnt marked on the led lamp.

The ones from Advance factors are also a good white colour and not blue which some of the Fleabay ones tend to be.

Well, fitted them and....only one side works! It's not the bulbs as I swapped them to make sure both was working. Had a pig of a job removing the original sidelight bulb on the side that now doesn't work - it appeared to be glued/melted in. Even took a sidelight bulb holder out of my old headlamps and fitted that. Still no joy and even a normal bulb doesn't work in that holder now. Will have to bring my test lamp home from work and check things out. On top of all that I broke the release lever on one headlamp and lost one of the headlamp retaining bolts somewhere under the bonnet - I think it landed on the undertray. I dunno, you try to make things better and you just make things worse. Big Cry Still, the side that works looks great. Thumbs Up Laughing

Fixed the fault, found the bolt, swapped the release lever from one of my old headlamps. Happy, happy, happy. Life doesn't get any better than that! Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Hey Steve D. I've had a similar experience with replacing my lisence plate lights and puddle lamps over to LED's. Could you tell me how to fix this problem of putting in 1 bulb working fine and when you put the second one in it doesn't work?? How do you fix this? Thanks mate!

Mine turned out to be a loose sidelight connection inside the headlamp - probably wasnt working bedfore I fitted the LED. If yours was working with the standard bulb, you have probably fitted the LED round the wrong way. Check it first with a standard bulb before going further.

LEDs I used are non polarity specific and in both puddle lamps and lisence plate lights only got one to work even though when I put filament globe back it worked
