They used to do free lifetime subscription if you found a camera that was not on the Database, don't know if they still do.

I think they give you a years free now? I remember in when I joinned them in 2006 for the sat nav on my HP Palm (retro!) it was completely free!

Just turned 500 miles in our Metropolis today, still very pleased with it, and it's proving better on fuel already than our previous manual box 2007 SE.

Highly recommended, even by my performance car-mad sons.

Yes it was, then they made it subscription, two months later I logged a new camera location and was rewarded with lifetime subscription.

Although the install was successful the cameras didn't seem to appear. I went back to the hand book and read that the system can't cope with the following in the name ";-,:*#”<>\. It turns out most of these POIs included "-" which stops them form appearing.

I downloaded an Excel version of the five databases and did a find and replace to remove the "-". Once complete I downloaded a GPX converter to make my own files. Installed on the Metropolis and it all worked! I then downloaded the PocketGPSWorld app, this then makes the alert by dimming the music. The Land Rover sounds are terrible and only work if you have the sat nav / voices guidance on.

In the meantime I've contacted PocketGPSWorld to see if they can remove the "-"from the database.

If any one needs any further guidance with this please let me know. Thumbs Up

I installed the gpx files and it kept saying the file was corrupted or the wrong type, however after 5 times displaying the message it came up POI loaded.
It seems to work fine, the speed cameras are displayed with a speed camera icon or are there some missing?
The sound is turned off, very Mickey Mouse the built in sounds, can the file be amended with new sounds in the excel file?

Strange, maybe MY15 cars are not compatible with the "-" ?

The sounds are curtsy of Land Rover I'm afraid. Using the app with the iPod is definitely the way forward. Thumbs Up

So 600 miles in and I've found the following issues:

> Car occasionally juddered at low speeds (only happened twice) - any ideas?

> DRL cluster on the drivers side sometimes doesn't come on. Even the side light part is off when you switch to the Xenons. Only way to cure it is to turn the car off and start it again....

> Small rattle coming from the right side headlining.

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Loire Blue

Thought I might reinvigorate the Metropolis thread. Much nicer than some of the other threads around here. Better carpets, mood lighting, nice leather seats and an overall feeling that a better sort of LandRover owner can be found here, although I may be proven wrong. Laughing

Took delivery of an ex JLR Metropolis in Loire Blue with Ebony last weekend. Had a long drive back from the supplying dealer (usual "right spec right condition right price" problems forced me to widen my search) and got home with a very bad back. Turned out that the 168-point check she received hadn't spotted that the lumbar support on the driver's seat was "inoperative" so I can claim my first warranty repair in less than 48 hours of ownership!

500 miles later and I must say I'm very impressed. Partly due to how much cars have changed since I bought my last car (a 2005 Suzuki Grand Vitara with 2.5L V6 Petrol) that never let me down and did 108,000 miles until some Censored wrote it off for me. I'm still getting used to how much bigger the FL2 is compared to the Vitara but the commanding driving position is great. And I'm so happy to have cruise control back! The SD4 is also pretty pokey too (I'm still adjusting to driving a diesel vs a petrol) but so far so good.

I'm just waiting delivery of the cherry picker I think I'm going to need to wash the roof! Very Happy

I'm 6'2" and I can't reach the middle of the roof, what I do is open the rear passenger door and stand on the sill , then I open the front passenger door and do the same . Washing the drivers side is easier as I don't need to open the doors to reach the roof. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

What differences are there between a 14MY Lux and a 15MY Metropolis? Was it more of a badge change than any major add or mod?

That is why I had side steps fitted & roof rails. I stand on the rear wheels & use the roof rails to grab onto, doing the same with the side steps means I can easily clean the roof area. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
