Yes, but don't forget these early models are high spec, if and when the 'GS' level model comes along it won't be 」8000 more and may well be affordable Thumbs Up
What will be affordable are the year old cars when the new engines come along, if you're not doing big mileages then a used SD4 could well be a better proposition, just a thought.

Anyone who has seen one up close know whether LR have added a variable speed limiter to Discobabes? Rarely use cruise control but find a variable limiter so much use these days and such a shame current FL2 doesn't have it

I had a speed limiter on the Merc, much better than cruise alone and if needed you could kick down the auto and it would over ride it.
I imagine it may come along, if they can adopt autonomous braking then speed limiting should be easy. Autonomous braking is fine until someone 'cuts in' into your space Shocked

I don't see adaptive cruise as an option either.

My current spec is

Loire Blue SE manual
Cirrus leather
Privacy glass
Heated wheel
Fogs

Thinking about Firenze with black roof though.

The cars starting price is a bit more expensive than I hoped, I thought maybe 」29k start with auto being 」30.5 ish. Looking at the photos alone it's not like your traditional LR, I think we need to focus on the similarities not the differences. When you start to study specs and press info you see it is a well thought out car. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Those of us who have been critical of Land Rover's decision to make this a premium vehicle and thus making it a lot more expensive than the FL2, are probably longing to buy the vehicle. I've spent the day evaluating other 4x4s in various showrooms, and am inclined to feel, having looked at Skoda, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Volvo and Kia vehicles, that I will be placing an order for a Discovery Sport!

People often say my grass looks good and green..it's just full of moss!

Anyway bit of a shame LR didn't read the 'and what would you like for the next FL to be like" thread on here and they would have picked up the variable speed limiter. Nissan, Renault, Peugeot, BMW and Volvo include it.

It is indeed an omission, especially as our road system is going towards variable limits, I wonder how difficult it would be to implement it.

If you look at the pictures that I took at the preview, you will see that there is a small camera in the lower fender under the front bumper (centrally). Whilst the initial launch DS won't have the technology, it's there to highlight what will be available later in 2015/16. This includes variable speed limiter, roadsign detection, invisible bonnet and remote driving via iPad/other tablet.

Best to wait until then if you want all the bells and whistles.....I intend to, because I want the new engine as well. Foraging near Gaydon....

Sign recognition comes from a camera mounted in front of the rear view mirror. One low down on front bumper is most likely linked to the 'invisible bonnet'.

As Badger hinted patience may well be a virtue when it comes to the DS, more features will be added in the not to distant future, most likely when the LR produced Ingenium engine is added to the range.

BMW offer this option and I was considering it as a option when I ordered mine but the forums were rife of people having issues with them. Decided it would be better to be paying more attention to the road rather than paying more to BMW. Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

Has anyone tried sitting in the tailgate of a DS yet? Is there room for a six-footer to sit there comfortably without having their head jammed up against the roof? With the sloping roofline it looks unlikely, but another nail in its coffin as a 'country' car if not!

Shilen, in the end I didn't have much choice it's not available on the SE but as you say it's better to just look at the road ahead. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
