I did.I'm 6'1, and whilst I managed to get in ok, it was by no means comfortable, and you wouldn't want to go on a long journey in the third row. The LR design boffin that I spoke to did say that they had children/teenagers in mind when they put that idea on the drawing board. The second row, however, gave extraordinary leg room owing to the sliding seats. Not quite on a par with a Skoda Superb, but certainly a damn sight more than the car that it replaces. I've just had a text from my salesman, they have one available for a 1hr test drive next week. I will report back then.

Whether or not one likes change and whether or not the car suits the small number of UK motorists who put their Freely 2s to practical use in the country or off road is by the way.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I don't mean in the third row of seats - I understand that's meant for kids. What I mean is that when used in outdoor scenarios one often ends up sitting in the tailgate itself, on the back of the load area with feet dangling outside the car. This can be for anything from a comfortable platform to change footwear, to somewhere out of the rain (sheltering under the raised tailgate) to eat one's sandwiches on a rainy day. I'm a similar height to you, and in the Freelander I can do that comfortably but without a lot of headroom to spare, which gives me (yet another) reason to be concerned about that sloping roofline. |

Thanks. That's quite a big difference - I don't think I'd be able to sit there comfortably. And certainly the sofa bed which only just went into the FL wouldn't go in there. Style over practicality, unfortunately! |

J77 when you have your test drive can you find out if the DS can take a full size spare wheel. From LR site this is unclear and it looks like only a space saver is available. I am sure a few will be interested to know this, - particularly us caravanners.

No full size spare due to the 7 seats, only a "reduced section spare" as LR call it.

Hopefully when the 'cheap' models come out with only 5 seats there will be room for a proper size spare |

Looking at pics of the steering wheel, I thought it had a speed limiter.

I had a look at the two cars on display at the Southampton Boat Show a couple of weeks ago. One had a space saver spare wheel the other had no spare. I was told that a full size spare wasn't available. (Personally I think a space saver is just about acceptable, but would prefer a full size spare).
