Been looking to upgrade my steering wheel to a leather bound one [as my hands slip on my current non leather one].
Was just about to buy a perforated leather D4 wheel when I discovered the boss is different!
Nothing decent for the FL2 wheel coming up on a search, but I came accross this cheap small upgrade.

Looks not too bad for the price, but just wondering if anyone has tried this before I splash out and give it a go.

That looks rubbish, considering free delivery and pacjing etc, the product is about £4, that will give you a mark of the quality.

PowerfulUK do a perforated leather one, very nice but needs a mortgage.

My money would be on a breakers yard

That one looks better, spend a little time doing the stitching and keep it tight and you should get a good outcome

I tried one of the cheap covers once... broke the thread trying to pull it tight and it ended up in the bin. The expensive one looks good though.

I changed the steering wheel on my previous FL. A saved search on ebay eventually threw up a few. You do need to watch some of the older FL leather wheels as the finish spoils on them and the surface looks like it has blistered. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

Yeah had the blistering issue on my old D3, got it replaced under warranty though.


Think I'll go for the £36 cover from Ali Express and maybe get a vehicle trimmer to stitch it up for me.
Hopefully it'll look the part and save a few pounds by not needing to change the steering wheel.

I don't agree they are rubbish even though they are cheap!

I bought one of these a year ago, took a bit of time and care to fit it as per the video and it has been absolutely fine.

If I have one criticism it would be that at the point where the cover ends are stitched together it forms a noticeable slightly bumpy join but it bothers me not a jot in use.

I find it a considerable improvement over the standard steering wheel "feel" and grip. It increases the circumference of the wheel a bit as well which I also like and consider another big improvement. I was prepared to be disappointed because of the price but thought it worth a punt and I am very pleased that I did!

I am sure the more expensive cover will be fine as well so you pays your money and makes your choice!!

Mainly because it covers the spokes and it's got perforated sections.

Do you reckon there's room to add some thin foam strip aroind the circumference before fitting the cover? FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

There wouldn't have been any room with the cover that I fitted.

I was quite pleasantly surprised by what a difference the cover made without any extra padding at all so I imagine the one you are buying will do the same. They are a very precise fit so trying to add anything, even if possible, might create problems.

Suggest you slip the cover on and just see what it feels like before getting it sewn into place. Good luck

I will have a genuine LR Napa leather one in excellent condition for sale by the end of the week.

I received my cover, but i haven't put it on the steering wheel yet.
The cover comes with some dual sided tape. I'm not sure if i want to use this. If i want to remove it later, it will leave stickyness all over the wheel.
