courtesy car & insurance fees

When I had a service recently dealer charged an insurance fee, £18, for courtesy car. I'm booked back in in a week for the rust on tailgate, cover hopefully by warranty. Is it normal for dealers to charge for a courtesy car ? ?

Steve

Didn't last time I had one. Probably depends on the dealer.

Mine (Guy Salmon) never has, but I am aware that some Dealers are now making this common practice. Foraging near Gaydon....

I was charged £10 by Pentland when my car was in for the tailgate fix. Took 3 days.
To me it doesn't really seem right to be charged for this when it's a warranty issue, but I tried my normal Insurers, Directline and they wanted £15.
I was just pleased to have my car fixed....

A certain dealer near me charges for a courtesy car for the insurance ,if your vehicle is out of the three year warranty period.
But they can't be trusted, if you buy a vehicle off the forecourt, they charge you £69 on top for doing an HPI check.

I've never been charged a fee with Hunters, Enterprise have a fee if you use their insurance.
My fleet insurance covers hired or loaned vehicles so I always use that, check your policy as your own insurance may cover the loan car in which case you should have nothing to pay.
We have a range of loan equipment that we use when dental equipemnt breaks down and is a keep you going service, we charge for this and have learnt to get money up front. The equipment is abused and treated with contempt and many people forget that the cost of providing this service is quite high.

Abused and treated with contempt, Laughing the last courtesy car from Pratstones, was in such a state Sue went back in and asked for a seat cover, it was disgusting.

^^ sounds like Evans Halshaw at its finest.....last time my previous FL had the misfortune of being serviced at that dump in Aylesbury, they "forgot" to put the oil filler cap back on properly! Foraging near Gaydon....

My LR dealer used to charge £10 per day but once I realised that my insurance cover did infact cover me for loan cars as long as I showed the dealer the certificate there was no charge. On the odd, sorry NUMEROUS times that my FL2 needed an extended stay for repairs I was given an Enterprise vehicle and was never asked for insurance certificate. Hats off to enterprise I had a brand new FL2 HSE LUX with 27 miles on the clock once, a couple of FL2's with less than 1000 miles on the clock and once I was fortunate enough to be given the keys to a Range Rover Sport as they couldnt get me a F2 in time. Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless!
Gone - 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Bali Blue with xenons
Gone - 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Rimini Red with bodykit
