I was one of those who had Bs when they came out until they stopped - my gsinwas fun.... How ever although I had an XP C it was a down grade and in eventually moved to Saab because it was the same car put together better. Now I'm here and I find my self with the same issue. The DS is not a Freelancer replacment'... Its a new car. Tech wise very good... Engine wise limited at launch and quite expensive. Every OEM is the same... Cut backs but put the price up. Conclusion as many of us are been done over on income and outgoings is the second hand market just started to look better. That means more car for less and for me I may actually consider a ffrs for two years rather and a DS for four years. Who knows.... I may change my mind T PS I did say the DS had the insignia steering wheel .... Maybe I'm closer to vauxhal again with out realising it lol Terran 'The' Car For The Modern Day UK Roads ( ie all the pot holes ) 'A Freelander that leaks oil is just marking its territory' - Wise words Now a member of the FL2 'Silly Bill' Club |

Ok, maybe many (or some?) do struggle with change. In relation to the Discovery Sport I certainly don't; I'm more than ready to see a new generation of vehicles to satisfy the existing and increasing LR market. My issue is that this launch (so far) may well be out of the price range of many former Freelander2 (& 1) owners.

This Autocar article seems to explain the latest LR thinking and market repositioning that's taking place. Just read Discovery Sport for Discovery and X3 for X5 .... http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars...016-launch |

Surprised by the thinking of that report, usually BMW X5 drivers are so far up themselves that they would have bought the RRS, not a Disco. But if you add the RRS and Disco sales figures together it makes the gap smaller. |

It's a strange article indeed, for me there is no comparison between the D4 and X5

Thanks! Good to get a closer look at the details - especially on the interior. They seem to have gone a bit button crazy on the steering wheel? If you have to look to find the right button, that kinda reduces some of the benefit... Do the RRs have steering wheels like that? FL2 2011 SD4 XS in Galway Green |

I don't like the shiny skid plates front & rear, it looks like it's pretending to be a full time off-roader. The pics on the above site with them in black look much better, pics 32 to 35. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver LONG GONE - '55 Norton Dominator 99 SS cafe racer |

The "What Car" guy says that later next year the 2 wheel drive variant will be available at £29,000 - I think LR will be loosing me as a customer when the time comes to change.

Agree with that and think the diehard D3/D4 owners will now only have their hopes pinned on the new Defender (incl me) ... ..... whenever that happens. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:- Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip, Bluetooth Music Streaming Module. |

and another thing - those plastic wheel arch trims. What's that for? No other LR models have them. It's beginning to look a bit like the old Renault Scenic RX4. GONE - '07 TD4 GS manual Zermatt Silver
