Thanks. Not really what I wanted to hear. To be clear though, the noise is when the steering wheel is on full lock/stop and not before. There is no knocking which I believe was the symptom of the weld splatter plus that was in older vehicles was it not?

And this is the thing, I'm happy to do that, but I may mess up my 9months of warranty by doing so. Assuming they knew.

Don't have 2 jacks either. Can it be done with all 4 wheels on ground? |

Called the LR warranty people and explained situation. He felt reservoir issues would be covered and he commented that there are known issues with the Freelander power steering so that's promising. |

Right, just been out to the car to take a proper look. First off, unless I really press hard, mu wheel isn't turning using the palm of my hand (when stationary).

If you are having difficulty turning the wheel with the palm of your hand when stationary you already have something wrong. When I first drove the Freelander 2 the big difference to my 07 Passat was the super light steering!

Sadly my dealer claimed they would need it for a few hours. I can't do that without a temp car due to looking after kids, so first time they can give me a car is a few weeks away. |
