Fuse is pictured here, the socket I simply put on a flying lead, if its a USB you need then don't bother with the cigar socket just take the wires straight from the fuse to the USB socket pictured earlier.
Most of the metal screws will provide an earth, get a suitable eyelet crimped onto the wire and pop it under the screw and tighten, don't try and wrap the wire round, its naff and dangerous.

Hi chuck ,
When I did mine I secured the power socket to inside of glove box with duct tape , so no damage when it's removed, re the earth just undo the bolt put earth behind it and do it back up, it's a really good and easy mod to do

Andy

Had no problem with the bolt I used (an obvious one near the fuse box). I didn't remove it - just loosened, wrapped the wire round and retightened. I used a completely enclosed lighter socket (plenty available on e-bay) and just left it loose in the glove box.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 XS Auto Zermatt Silver

fitted mine in an hour today as per the great instructions on this forum
used a hot glue gun all the way around the TT, absolutely solid, and allows the speaker to be heard perfectly
added a small on off switch so that I can turn it off for evening driving if necessary and left the usb available for updates etc

very happy with end result and no one could tell it didn't come from the factory with the fitment
Thumbs Up to all who have imput on this great mod especially parallax33 - FL2 3.2 i6 - There is no Replacement for Displacement

If my wife ever sells my stuff for what I told her I paid for it, there will be some bargains out there!

It's great to see how this figment has evolved. I believe it is one of the most professional looking retrofits of a sat nav on any car.

Thanks for your feedback leesbay, I have learnt a great deal from everyone who has contributed to this thread Thumbs Up

Now the body mods are done I'll be fitting mine shortly.
The hot glue gun seems to be the most secure, however as I don't possess one my thoughts are on using 'plastic padding' body filler.
Just like some thoughts on that in case I'm missing the obvious.
Ok I know it'll mess the back up if I wanted to sell it on, but not planning to do that. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

I had no problem with two-sided tape. I did find the unit wasn't as robust as I hoped - it had started doing odd things (like keep trying to send me home) and I would have bought another if I had been keeping the car. As it was, I took it out and sold the car in original spec. I think the option of being able to take it out is worth thinking about. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Santorini Black

I hot-glued mine and in the recent very hot weather the glue melted and failed. I re-did it with more of the same and it failed again.
I have since used a very strong black adhesive and that's been fine. I'm sorry that I can't recall the name of the stuff - I already had it to glue in a sunroof frame on my old Land Rover and the writing's completely come off the tube now. I think it may have been Tiger something-or-other
