I wonder if there care any LR insiders who can throw a little more light on the likely engines offered with 2015 DS's? |

I'm sure many will be happy to have DS with the current engine range but I don't we'll see some of the true benefits of DS until the new engines have arrived. A new range of engines is not something to rush but something to get right. The urgency is to get the Ingenium engines into jaguar as the impact there will be on fleet sales.

I seem to recall that when Vauxhall/Opel launched the new Vectra back in 2002, they ran the diesel with the old 2.2 lump. The common rail 1.9 CDTi didn't arrive until 2004, some 18 months after launch. By this time, Fleets had bought into the concept and ordered thousands of them, at the same time helping VX reduce their old engine units. It was a great strategy that worked for them, so I am sure similarly could work for JLR as well. Foraging near Gaydon....

I didn't check and it came as something of a surprise when I found I couldn't fit my shotgun in its slip into the boot. You'd have thought they'd have checked that sort of thing at JLR! ![]() Series 3 Lightweight, 1973, 1999 - 2012, still regret selling this car. Freelander 1, 2005, 2005 - 2008, sold the minute its warranty expired. Defender 90 200 TDi, 1985, 2012 - 2014, paid far too much for it. Defender Wolf, 1998, 300 TDi, 2017 - 2019, too expensive to maintain and the Army hadn't. Defender Puma, 2009, 2014 - 2014, not a sensible family car. Freelander 2, 2012, current, is this the car to last? |

I totaly agree wih Badger, The old 2.2 DTi lump in the Vectra was bullet proof but old tech, and residuals suffered once the 1.9 came out.

I also had the 150 1.9 in a Signum! Lovely engine and I actually really liked the car. Super smooth on the motorway and fairly quick. Vauxhall seem to of lost there way now and reliability of the new generation engines leaves a lot to be desired. I hope Land Rover produce a decent petrol variant. As much as I love big petrol engines, I'm not sure I could live with the tax/mpg of the I6. As a straight six owner though, I can totally understand the appeal! |

I don't know where you get your info regarding the latest generation from Vauxhall. The new 2.0 CDTi's are leaps and bounds better than the old 1.9.

No, you are right that the 1.9 and 2.0's are based on the old Fiat 2.0 petrol twin cam petrol engine of the 90's. The 1.9 was a great engine but there were cases of swirl flap, erg and dual mass flywheel issues. But then again, I don't know of any manufacturer that hasn't suffered with these faults on Diesel engines.
