Found this, worth taking a look;

I've had this problem several times, mostly when abroad having changed the dipping lever. Removing and replacing the plug on the back of the headlight unit fixed it temporarily a couple of times. However it was a very clever mechanic at the Aix-en-Provence LR agents who discovered the actual cause: one of the pins (the one carrying the xenon bulb power) in the plug had somehow got pushed, or just worked its way, back into the body of the plug so it was no longer connecting to the socket. He gripped the pin with long-nosed pliers and pulled it out. I saw what he did but could not understand his voluble explanation in thickly-accented French! This was nearly two years ago and it's been fine since.
