My gps has just started having a red line through it. Occasionally it picks up a signal and works, very intermittent. I've looked under the technical menu and it can't see any satellites. Help please

First thing to check would be the antenna and connector / lead.

Thanks, can't see how to get into the box on top of the roof?

It is accessed by opening up the rear hatch lid removing the seal at the top and pulling down the roof lining, hopefully enough to get and check the aerial connection.

Did you get any joy fixing the red line through the GPS? I've got the same issue and can't seem to fix it, I've just had the sharks fin replaced on the roof but it didn't make any difference and I've disconnected the battery to give it a full reboot but again no joy

Yeah very frustrating. I thought mine was due to a dodgy disc I found in the nav drive but I've since got hold of a later copy of the official nav discs but it still didn't fix it. It's back in the garage tomorrow for further analysis but if my local garage can't fix it I suppose it'll be a trip to the landrover dealership to see what they say.

See if the diagnostic screen works for you: Taken from the workshop manual and not my fault if it goes t s up

1.With the vehicle at rest, place the ignition switch in either "ACC", "ON", or start the engine.
2.On the "Menu" screen, press the top center of the screen for more than three seconds.
3.Enter the PIN code, and then touch "OK". 660: Diagnosis Menu screen 661: System Check screen (DTC code
verification screen) 662: GPS Information screen.
4.The diagnostics screen will be displayed.

B3: SATELLITE RECEPTION CHECKS
Check the 'ST' column of the navigation diagnostics GPS information screen (PIN code 662) after 10
minutes have passed. There must be more than 4 ‘P’s displayed for accurate positioning. Check the
‘HDOP’ value, this must be less than 5.
Are there more than 4 'P's displayed and is HDOP less than 5?
Yes
Satellite reception is normal.

No
Confirm the GPS antenna is connected to the navigation module.
Refer to the electrical circuit wiring diagrams and check the integrity of the coaxial cable and
connectors from the Navigation Control Module (NCM) to the GPS antenna.
Install a new GPS antenna or coaxial cable as required.
Re-check satellite reception.

Thanks for tip. I've followed your instructions but couldn't find the ST column, mine shows STS which is showing 0. However the HDOP is showing 25.5 which is obviously more than 5 so it sounds like a dodgy connection somewhere. I've attached a pic of my diagnostics. It's going into the garage this morning so can pass this info on so hopefully they can fix it quicker.

No joy at the garage, they couldn't route cause the problem so they've recommended taking it to a landrover dealership. I spoke to one and they reckon they know what it is but will need to book it in. It'll probably be a few weeks until it gets done due to work and holidays but will let you know how I get on and the cost...

Leave it on the Clock screen save and buy a Tom Tom. OME sat nav useless unless you are on the tarmac. Venture into a car park or visitor attraction and screen goes blank.
Then when you decide to move on the stupid thing says "Guidance will start when you reach the highlighted road." Not a lot of use if you are at Trafford Park, a National Trust property or somewhere similar.

Tom Tom will also show unmade tracks and Forestry roads which I consider essential for my hobby of car rally officiating.
