The fuelling device is triggered if you insert the nozzle all the way, if you simply hold the nozzle in the filler tube it is possible to defeat the safety feature.
No excuse for not being careful though, hopefully fixed swiftly for you without any heartache Thumbs Up

I think I have one of those anti fuelling devices that fit the FL2 (pre 2011) in the garage I could donate to help with your embraassment - the ones that were on Dragon's Den

Check if your insurance company will cover the repair costs.
LR insurance did on my 07 plate car which I miss fuelled whilst in a bit of a state having just been informed that I had got Prostate Cancer.

The car was still under warranty so Conwy LR were required by LR to replace all fuel lines, injectors, injector rail, and decontaminate the fuel tank at a cost of £2300.00 and when I said their Receptionist "That will make a mess of the bank balance" she advised me to contact LR Insurance, and when I did they said yes it was an accident so OK.
When I expressed amazement that it was covered the Lady on the other end of the phone commented "Sir you are not the first person to do this, and I am sure you will not be the last but please do not do it 3 times as somebody else has done."

PS. Prostate Cancer defeated with 35 shots of radiation at Clatterbridge Oncology Centre on the Wirral, on a then brand new bit of kit 5 years ago, which I have just been informed is now obsolete. Drove it about 400 yds! When this happened in my Laguna, the AA came out, drained it & put some sort of cleaner through it & all was fine. I am in shock. Anyway, the insurance co are arranging for it to be inspected by their approved repairers. From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos!
